Dr. Kimberly Bell's course required reading I fell in love with the story of Gilgamesh and Enkidu. A beautiful story of the lengths one would go to for a true friend. -

The Things They Carried
Tim O'Brien's The Things They Carried was a hard read for me. The horrors of war are prevalent and relevant in Dr. Donahoo's course on American Literature. I was reunited with Hemingway but found the realistic fiction selections hard to handle. They were emotional reads. -
Dolly Parton: My Life and Other Unfinished Business
I read this autobiography for pleasure after graduating with my bachelor's degree. It was the first book I borrowed from the library after completing my degree program. I laughed and cried the entire way through. -
The Picture of Dorian Gray
I delved into this Oxford Bookworm reader with my ESOL Elective course. The students loved the story and did well with the adapted text. -
The Twilight Saga
This series was introduced to me by a student. It is a prime example of how we call ourselves teachers, but we are learners, too. I was definitely schooled and enjoyed it immensely. -
A Certain Slant of Light
I was thrilled when my students picked out this novel to read. There were some awkward moments, but they showed their maturity. I had a memorable teaching experience as we worked through this book and tied in classic author Emily Dickinson's poem which is alluded in the novel. -
A Midsummer Night's Dream
The Sheltered English I class did exceptionally well understanding the adapted text and applying literary elements to the original text. I was grateful for their willingness to try to comprehend the difficult language of Shakespeare's day. -
Fifty Shades of Grey Trilogy
This was a series I read because I was told it paralleled the Twilght Saga plot line. It was evident while I was reading where E. L. James was influenced by the works of Stephenie Meyer. It was interesting to see the characters' development and growth throughout the series. I love complex dynamic characters! -
Divergent, Insurgent, Allegiant
This series was recommended by a friend after I told her I loved The Hunger Games trilogy. I love the fact that it's dystopian, yet, it's set in Chicago which is a very recognizable setting. It's interesting to see how the author handles a real location and morphs it to fit her needs. -

Another fantastic series which was recommended to me as I immersed myself into dystopian YA novels. I couldn't read through the series fast enough, and I reread them to make sure I didn't miss anything! -
Cinderella
I downloaded this as an eBook on iBooks because it was free. I enjoyed reading the real Cinderela story. I look forwad to sharing it with my daughter. -

I downloaded this on Kindle and fell in love with it immediately. I ordered a hardcover for my daughter. There's nothing like putting a new book into her hands for her to touch, feel, experience.
