pineda sailed the gulf coast of mexico. he was looking for a water passage from the gulf to the orient. He was the first to map the gulf coast. The map of the coast led to more exploring that land.

Davaca discovers Texas

Da vaca was the first to explore Texas, but it was by mistake, he crash landed in what is now Galveston,Texas. While in Texas Da vaca met three tribes includeing the Karankawas, jummano, and coahuiltecans. He was there for 8 years.

Moscoso's Expedition

Moscoso explored with two other exploreres, Pedro de Alvarado and Hernando de Soto. In the first expedition they explored the Mississippi River north and, in the inland march. With the second expedition they explored northwest Louisiana and then march to the west, coming to Texas.

Fray Marcos and Esteban Journey

Marcos de Niza was the first explorer to report the Seven Cities of Cibola and The Zuni Estabon because he went ahead of the group and entered a Zuni village alone.

Coronado's Expedition

Feb 23, 1540

Coronado set out from Compostela on February 23, 1540. Coronado discovered a Spanish settlement in Mexico, San Miguel de Culiacán. Coronado died of an infectious disease on September 22, 1554 in whagt is now Mexico City.
