    Serving well at Toulon, along with loyalty, earns Napoleon France's Cheif of the Army of the Interior.

    After Napoleon served well at Toulon on December 22, 1793 for France, he gets a promotion to brigadier general. This plus loyalty and good service to the French military helped him get a recommendation by General Paul Barras for a higher position. This position was Chief of the Army of the Interior. When he was appointed to this position on October 26, 1795, he became rich and famous, and it later helped him become the leader of France (softschools.com).

    Napoleon tried to advance into Syria while he was in Egypt. Horatio Nelson and British forces made Napoleon retreat back to Egypt and then France. On his way to France, he sent home false reports of success in Egypt, which boosted his popularity. he returned and easily took over The Directory and three councils were put in place. Napoleon was the most powerful of these councils. This allowed Napoleon's rule of France to start, which forever changed France's government and society(Henderson 44).

    Thomas Jefferson founded West Point Academy in 1802. This academy served as the United States 1st major military school. the schools was used to train engineers. It was clearly successful because in the War of 1812, no works constructed by graduates of West Point were destroyed (monticello.org).

    Dalton's theory revolutionized the scientific world. His theory stated that element were made of atoms, these particles even smaller than cells. He also said each element had a different mass, but atoms of the same element had the same mass. This sparked the idea of the mass numbers in the periodic table, as well as the discovery of protons, neutrons, and electrons(clackamas.edu).

    This railway was England's, and potentialyl the entire world's first public railway. It carried many important goods over 13.6 km of track from the village Mitcham to the village Hackbridge, near South London. much of the route is still used till this day (transportheritage.com).

    This case was possibly the most important case in the United States' history. This case was the first case that had the use of judicial review. The decision, partly made by the chief justice, John Marshall, made it clear that the Supreme Court was its own branch that had just as much power as the other two(pbs.org).

    He is named emperor in may, but is not crowned emperor until December at Notre Dame in Paris (softschools.com). Traditionally, the Pope crowns the emperor but at the ceremony, Napoleon takes the crown from the Pope's hands and crowns himself, showing that not even the church has power over him. This means that nothing would stand in his way to have complete power over not just France but all of Europe (Beck et. al. 586).

    The one thing that stranded between Napoleon and conquering Britain was Britain's Navy. Napoleon led a navy of Spanish and French ships against Horatio Nelson and his British fleet. However, Napoleon did not have lots of experience in leading a navy(Rude' 153). He was only good at leading troops at land, so he had a disadvantage. Even with this fleet, Napoleon gets destroyed, and he is never able to conquer Great Britain. This also marks the start of Napoleon's slow downfall(Beck et. al. 587).

    Napoleon defeated a combined Russian and Austrian force in one of his greatest victories. During the battle, the opposing army, lead by General M.I. Kutuzov, decided to try to Flank Napoleon and his men. This left the center of their lines weak, so Napoleon sent men through the middle and won control of the elevated ground. This eventually allowed France to win. Austria was forced to sign a peace treaty with France after the battle (britannica.com).

    Napoleon set out into Russia with a over 400 thousand men. Russian soldiers retreated, and used the scorched earth policy(burnt down crops so France would starve). When Napoleon reached Moscow, it was on fire. It wasn't until the tired French started to retreat when the Russians attacked. By the time Napoleon escaped, only a fraction of the soldiers were fit to fight. This doomed Napoleon because in the following battles, lack of experience from new recruits would doom his army(Beck et.al. 590).

    The famous and the most successful trading company during the time the 13 colonies were a part of Britain. They transported many slaves from 1640-1807, and even some until 1813. 1807 was when England passed The Abolition of Slave Trade Act, which ended the 200 year trade that had benefited England very well. This led to a gradual decline to slavery in America and all over the world (nationalarchives.gov).

    Napoleon exiled to Elba
    The Fourth Coalition, which was most of Europe, successfully defeated Napoleon. This is due to Napoleon's army not being well trained. Napoleon is forced to give up his throne and is exiled to an island called Elba near, Italy. This isn't the last time France is ruled by Napoleon, but it shows that if all of Europe unites Napoleon can be taken down (softschools.com).

    Napoleon returns, losses at Waterloo and is permanently exiled to St. Helena

    Napoleon escaped Elba and returned to France on March 20. He would soon regain control of France's army and government (softschools.com). However, about 5 months later, Napoleon is defeated by Britain and Prussia at Waterloo. He is forced to give up his throne and is exiled far way, to a small island in the Middle of the South Atlantic called Saint Helena.This ended any chance of napoleon to return to power, and Europe was able to try to fix the things Napoleon caused (McGuire 100-102).

    Napoleon dies while in exile on Saint Helena. He may of been poisoned, but it was most likely stomach cancer. This meant France's great emperor would never return to power (softschools.com)
