The Renaissance was important because it took the human population out of the dark ages and began the ideas that formed our world's society today.

The renaissance was important because it took the human population out of the dark ages where we retrogressed so much to a world where ideas helped form the society we live in today.

    Black Plague

    The Bubonic Plague came to Europe around 1347 the Sicily Coast from merchant ships.Probaly originated from Asia carried by trading from Europe and Asia. Disease oringinated from fleas carried by rats that were on the merchant ships. The Plague killed around 25 million people in Europe and around 25 million people in Asia/ India region. It's important because it led to the people questioning the authority of the church which then led people to make their own decisions.

    Giovanni (born 1313 died 1375) an Italian writter that wrote the Decameron in 1348. In the Decameron he illustrates the funny but tragic views of life. Decameron is a frame story in which there are stories within stories . Bocaccio contributed to the people of the renaissance by giving readers the perspective of this era who were waiting off the plague.

    The Medici family was a powerful banking family, Cosimo won power in Florence, Italy in 1494. Cosimo was a very wealthy man at this time. Cosimo De Medici Died in the year of 1464 but he was dictator of Florence for 30 years. The merchants and the Medicis were one of the reasons why Italy was the birthplace of the renaissance.

    Books can now be produced quicker thanks to Mr. Johann Gutenburg a craftsman from Germany. He developed the printing around the year 1440.The purpose of the printing press made it possible to print books more quickly and efficiently.Johann made the first printed bible on his press called the Gutenburg Bible in 1445. He was important because his press printed books more quickly making it possible for us to obtain more quantities of renaissance liturature.

    The renaissance that started in Italy spread to the northern parts due to scholars and merchants visiting Italy and bringing those ideas back to his homeland where they developed their own characterics. The renaissance spread to France where they were known for their archetecture. The renaissance in England were known for their liturature such as Shakespear. The renaissance in the Netherlands were known for their realism in art. The Renaissance isn't just for Italy but for all of Europe.

    Niccolo Machiavelli wrote the Prince in 1513 unlike most books, his books was more of a political guideline than a normal novel. The book explains how a ruler can gain power and keep it in spite of his enemies. It illustrates that in order to succed in a wicked world you have to decieve your enemies and even your own citizens for the wellfare of your own country. Machiavelli gave political advice that leaders probaly used to rule their own people.

    A christian humanist from Engalnd he wrote Utopia meaning "no place" in 1516. Utopia is an ideal place of a perfect world with no corruption,greed, and war all banished. His works were written in Latin and his books were translated to differerent languages. He illustrated how the mind of a renaissance man didn't just accept the reality he was living in but rather imagine the world outside his enviroment . He contributed to the many ideas that were rooted in the renaissance.

    He praised the ideas of a "universial man" leading to the Renaissance man. His book the Courier written in 1528 to teach a man how to be that "man". He believed a man should be charming, witty, and well educated. He should be able to sing, dance, play music, and write poetry. Castiglione gave people during this time a proper guide on how to be a regular "man" and like Da Vinci who was a renaisssance man influenced the world.

As the renaissance brought culture back to Europe the Enlightment changed the European's view on government. The Enlightenment was important because it opened a new door for abstract thinking. Because of this more philosophers arose with theories and ideas that were profound.
