    Dust Bowl
    The dust bowl started in 1930 and it lasted for about a decade. The dust bowl would soon become the worst drought in 300 years. The dust bowl's nickname was "The Dirty Thirties" because of how dirty it was in places that had the Dust Bowl. The Dust Bowl started due to low crop prices and high machinery cost. More submarginal lands were put into production. Farmers also started to abandon soil conservation practices. This laid the path for the severe events that started the Dust Bowl.

    Pluto
    Pluto was discovered on February 13, 1930, Clyde Tombaugh discovered Pluto. He found Pluto at Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff, Arizona. Pluto was named by an 11 year old Venetia Burney of Oxford, England.

    The first World Cup was played in Uruguay. The reason why Uruguay hosted the first World Cup is because it would benefit them financially with many teams flying to Uruguay. Uruguay won 1st, Argentina won 2nd, and the United States won 3rd.

    Franklin D. Roosevelt was elected president in 1933. For some reason Franklin D. Roosevelt was president for 12 years.

  • Hindenburg Disaster

    Hindenburg Disaster
    German dirigible, largest rigid airship ever constructed. In 1937 it caught fire and it crashed and was destroyed. The disaster killed 36 people who were all on the ship. 62 people survived and some people who were still alive after the crash still soon died to there wounds or other pieces of the ship falling on them.

    In 1939 Germany threatened to attack Poland. Germany soon they made a nonaggression pack with the Soviet union. They both agreed that Poland should be divided between them two. On August 26 Germany's dictator Adolf Hitler ordered to attack Poland. On September 3rd Great Britain and France declared War On Germany and thus, World War 2 had begun.

    People who somehow were able to keep there job had a 42.5% decrease in there average income. The great depression was the worse economic disaster in the United States.

    Between 1941 and 1945 the Germans killed around 6 million Jewish people, which was about two thirds of the Jewish population. The Holocaust is also sometimes referred to as "the Shoah" the Hebrew word for "catastrophe". The Nazis targeted Jews because the Nazis were radically anti-Semitic. This means that they were prejudiced against and hated Jews. The Nazis falsely accused Jews of causing Germany's social, economic, political, and cultural problems and blamed them for their loss in ww1.

    Pearl Harbor is a naval base near Honolulu, Hawaii. The bombing of Pearl harbor was on December 7, 1941. Japan destroyed about 20 naval vessels and 300 airplanes. More than 2,400 Americans died in the attack, including civilians, and another 1,000 wounded.

    The battle of Midway was on June 3rd, 1942. The five day battle spanding from June 3rd to June 7th. Japan ease and American ships fought at ranges of 50-150 miles.

    The Manhattan project was for creating the first atomic bomb. The Manhattan project started on August 13, 1942. The most famous person who helped with the Manhattan project was Albert Einstein.

    Truman was elected president in April 12, 1945. Truman was elected president after he saw that Franklin D. Roosevelt received no briefing on the development on the atomic bomb or the unfolding difficulties with the Soviet union.

    D-day happened on June 6, 1944. D-day was important because the allies now had a path to victory. Normandy was picked to attack because the UK could provide air support and naval support. Normandy was also not as defended as other places like Pas de Calais. Pas de Calais would also be an obvious choice for the allies to attack which was why it was way more defended than other places like Normandy.

    The Battle of Berlin started on April 20th, 1945 to May 2nd, 1945. The allies like the UK and USA where attacking Germany for Berlin and so was the Soviet union. The soviets had about 80,000 deaths while the Germans had an estimated 50,000 deaths.

    The first ever atomic bomb test was done by the U.S. on July 16,1945, in the New Mexico desert. The only atomic bombs used in war were dropped by the U.S. on Hiroshima on Aug. 6, 1945. They also dropped another bomb on Nagasaki three days later from Hiroshima. Many other countries tested atomic bombs like Soviet union, Britain, France, China, India, and Pakistan. Other countries have been suspected of testing atomic bombs.

    Hiroshima got bombed on August 6,1945. The first atomic bomb was dropped in Hiroshima which was called little boy. Little boy was estimated to have caused 140,000 deaths.

    The city of Nagasaki was bombed on August 9, 1945, where the second atomic bomb was dropped. The bomb was from the United States and it was called Fat Man. Fat Man had caused about 74,000 deaths when it was dropped.
