Carnegie Founded the Carnegie Steel Company
Carnegie who was a Scottish immigrant used the Bessemer process to create steel and he bought out steel rivals, iron mines, railroads, steamship lines, and warehouses. This was called vertical integration when he controlled all phases of the steel industry. He gave jobs to many poor people remembering his poor roots, but he didn't just give them money because he also believed everyone should have to earn their money just like he did. -

Railroads Lead to New Timezones
The start of the timezones being brought to question was in the 1880's. They did this because local towns all made their own time based on the sun. This was a problem because of departure times on trains. Therefore, the US Congress passed a bill stating four official timezones.
