  • Hiroshima

    At the end of World War II, the Allies were trying to invade Japan. It was going to be a costly invasion, but the United States developed two atom bombs in the Manhatten Project. The Allies called for the surrender of Japan, but Japan refused. In response, the United States dropped the first atom bomb on Hiroshima and killed over 100,000 people.
  • Nagasaki

    Japan didn't surrender after the first atom bomb, so the United States decided three days later to drop another atom bomb on Nagasaki. The atom bomb dropped on Nagasaki killed over 60,000 people.
  • V-J Day

    V-J Day marked the end of World War II as a whole. Japan surrendered after having two atomic bombs destroy two major cities. After the announcement that Japan surrendered, nations took the streets and celebrated the ending of the deadliest war.

    Harry Truman ran against Thomas Dewey and Truman won. Truman was the president that decided to drop the atomic bombs, and help rebuild Germany.

The NATO is a treaty stating that the countries within the treaty will help protect countries from attacks from countries that aren't in the treaty.

    The Korean War began because North Korea crossed the 38th parallel and invaded South Korea. The Korean War would eventually get the name The Forgotten War because it didn't receive the attention that it should have received.
  • Korean War Ends

    After 5 million deaths, the Korean War was coming to an end. With the United States aiding the South Koreans, North Korea failed to take over and both countries weren't reunited. The war came to an end when the Korean Armistice Agreement was signed
