Nelson Mandela was born Rolihlahla Mandela in Mvezo on Transkei, South Africa. -
Methodist Education
His parents were christians so, when he was 7 years old , he was sent to a methodist school where he was baptized and then called Nelson due to the bias of the British educational system in South Africa. -
Unemployment of his father Gadla
His father Gadla Henry Mphakanyiswa was the chief and monarch counselor, nevertheless, he was accused of corruption and therefore fired. -
Gadla's Death
After moving to another village named Qunu, his father died of a non diagnosed illness believed to be a pulmonary infection. -
Adoptive Parents
When his father died, Nelson was sent to the palace of Mqhekezweni where he was later put under responsibility of Jongintaba and her wife Noengland. In here he learnt about history and geography. -
Journey to Tyhalarha
When he was 16 years old, he went to Tyhalarha to subject to a circumsicion ritual. -
Healdtown Comprehensive School
He enrolled in Healdtown Comprehensive School, which was a methodist institution in Fort Beaufort.
