    Hitler was born in Braunau am Inn, Austria. His dad was very strict and abusive while Hitler was growing up. When Hitler was a child he was very quiet and introverted. His brother Edmund Hitler died and it destroyed Hitler. Soon Hitlers dad died and he moved to a big city in Austria to pursue his dream of going to a art university. The art school turned him down. Hitler didn't give up he applied to the school again but got rejected a second time. Hitler later on goes to the military.

    Hitler had to serve for Austria but he disliked Austria so much that he talked them out of making him go to the military. Hitler then volunteers for Germany.

    Archduke Franz Ferdinand Assassintaion
    In the summer of 1914, Franz Ferdinand and his wife was invited to visit the capital of Bosnia, Sarajevo. He was informed that there was some terrorist activity going on but he choose to ignore the warnings. June 28th they were both shot and killed by a nationalist organization the "Black Hand". This event caused World War I to start. Austria declared war against Serbia. Russia declared war on Austria, Germany declared war on Russia, and France and Britain declared war on Germany.

    The Treaty or Versailles was one of the peace treaties at the end of World War I. It was signed exactly 5 years after the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. It ended war between Germany and the Allied Powers.

    Hitler wins the election and becomes the new leader of the Nazi Party.

    Beer Hall Putsch
    Adolf and his followers staged the Beer Hall Putsch. It was a failed takeover of the government in Bavaria. The putsch and Hitler’s future trial turned him into a national figure. After prison he worked to rebuild the Nazi Party and gain power. The Beer Hall Putsch led to the split between Hitler and Ludendorff.

    The Nazis began to eliminate Jews from Eastern Europe. At least six million Jews were killed in the concentration camps.

    Hitler was appointed Chancellor of Germany in 1933. In 1934 President Hindenburg died Hitler took all the powers to himself. His policies caused World War II and the Holocaust.

    One of the first Nazi Concentration Camps opened March of 1933. A concentration camp is a camp which people are abused and beaten. The camps were brutal and heartbreaking. The Jews were treated very badly in the camps.

    The Nuremberg Race Laws were two laws that excluded the Jews from German life it also took some of their naturally rights away. These new laws were unfair. They were first declared at a Nazi rally in Nuremberg.

    Kristallnacht
    On November 9 to November 10, 1938 Nazis in Germany vandalized Jewish homes, schools and businesses. During that night around 100 Jews died. Kristallnacht is also known as the "Night Of Broken Glass". Around 30,000 Jewish men were arrested they were sent to Nazi concentration camps.

    The common purpose of the Allies was to defeat the Axis powers and create a peaceful post-war world. The main Allied powers were Great Britain, The United States, China, and the Soviet Union.The main Axis powers were Germany, Japan and Italy.     On December 17, 1941 hundreds of Japanese fighter planes attacked the American naval base at Pearl Harbor. The Japanese destroyed nearly 20 American naval vessels. More than 2,000 American soldiers and sailors died in the attack. A day after President Franklin D. Roosevelt asked Congress to declare war on Japan.Three days later Japanese allies Germany and Italy also declared war on the United States.

    After the April 9, 1942, U.S. surrender of the Bataan Peninsula on the main Philippine island to the Japanese during World War II. About 75,000 Filipino and American troops on Bataan were forced to make an arduous 65-mile march to prison camps.

    Warsaw Ghetto Uprising
    An estimated 7,000 Jews perished during the uprising, 50,000 others who survived were sent to labor camps. Himmler sent in SS forces and their collaborators with tanks and heavy artillery to liquidate the Warsaw ghetto. Several hundred resistance fighters tried to fight the Germans who far outnumbered them. By May 16 the ghetto was under Nazi control.

    During the Holocaust there were non-Jews that risked their lives to save the Jews. The Righteous Gentiles protected and hid Jews from the Nazis. There was a girl named Ava she is a Holocaust survivor and she was rescued by a Righteous Gentile.German Soldiers found her hiding and were about tot kill her and the other lady with her. Then, her guardian angel came and stopped the German Soldiers. This is just one of the hundreds of righteous stories.

    Soviet forces were the first to approach a major Nazi camp. The Germans attempted to hide the evidence of mass murder by destroying the camp and burning the bodies. The liberation of the camps was a long process.

    Adolf Hitler killed himself by gunshot. He committed suicide in his underground bunker.

    Germany surrenders
    On May 7, 1945, Germany officially surrendered to the Allies, bringing an end to the European conflict in World War II. The soviets were approaching the German capital and then Hitler committed suicide leaving Karl Dönitz to carry out the surrender of the Nazis.

    The Nuremberg trials were a series of 13 trials carried out in Nuremberg. They were held to bring Nazi war criminals to justice. Since Adolf committed suicide he was never brought to trial. These trials happened between 1945 and 1949.

    Holocaust Memorial Museum
    The Holocaust Memorial Museum was opened in 1993. It is located in Washington DC. The museum teaches you a lot about what happened during the Holocaust. The museum is heart breaking but very knowledgeable. There are many things to do in the museum there is even a cafe where you can eat and relax.
