First Books
My first experience reading started as early as I can remember with my mom and dad as a child -
Starting School
reading with friends at school -
3rd grade
Reading my first book series "The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe" made me fall in love with chapter books -
Playing School
My best friend Jenny and I would force my younger brother to play school with us. We would assign him book reports and projects to complete. -
High School
Lost my love of reading for a few years. Reading became a requirement more than a desire. -
Panic Attack
I was always great at public speaking until I had a panic attack during a presentation in high school. I struggled with reading in public for several years afterward. One of the only negative reading experiences I can recall. -
College
The first time I looked at books from the lens of a teacher--found my love for picture books again -
My 1st year teaching--kindergarten
Seeing the love of books through my students eyes for the first time -
Teaching 3rd grade
Sharing my love of a book series (Clementine) with my students and seeing them rush to the school library to check out more books in the series -
