The invention of the 'vacuum cleaner'
Daniel Hess invented the carpet sweeper; it had roller brushes and bellows that generated vacuum. When the bellows expanded, it sucked in air and the dust. When contracted,it blew the air with dust into two cylinders with water which acted like filters and was to destroy dirt substantially. -
Powered Vacuum Cleaners
John S. Thurman submitted a patent for the pneumatic carpet renovator which blew dust into a receptacle. It featured the first electric motor. -

British Engineer Hubert Booth and David T. Kenney created vacuum cleaners using suction that were independent. Booth's horse drawn combustion engine powered "Puffing Billy" maybe derived from Thurman's blown air design. It also relied upon just suction with air pumped through a cloth filter. -
Domestic Vacuum Cleaners
The first vacuum cleaning device that was portable was made by a manufacturer named Griffth. It resembled modern-day cleaners, and removed dust, and featured a removable, flexible pipe, with varieties of shaped nozzles. -

In the early 2000s, Neato Roboticslaunched the world's first robotic vacuum cleaner which uses a rotation laser-based range-finder, to scan the map and its surrounding. It uses this map to clean the floor methodically.
