Homecoming week is synonymous with spontaneity, but the excitement I experienced when my homecoming date surprised me with a kitten was certainly unexpected. After a long first night of Oliver incessantly meowing and playing with my hair, I needed a class on Cat parenting 101. Yes, I know, most people would consider getting a B in a class as a trvial matter, but recieving what I consider a "bad grade" impacted my persepective on life. Although I was heartbroken at the first sight of that hideous letter on my report card, I eventually accepted the fact that I am not perfect. I recognized that not every subject will be my cup of tea, and the pressure I placed upon myself was ultimately detrimental. Today, I strive for greatness without beating myself up over mistakes.

After many months of applying for employment to every fast food restaurant within a twenty-five mile radius, I landed a job at Chocolatte's, a small coffee shop located in Lee County hospitals. While eagerily observing doctors grabbing a coffee and trying to earn a couple dollars for my "College Fund", I discovered the fast-paced lifestyle of many medical professionals, and that doctors love to tip when you show interest in their profession. The feeling of a hard-earned paycheck never gets old.

    Got my first car
After months of begging my mom for a car, she finally proposed this ultimatum: I could get a car as long as I pay a portion of the monthly car payment. Initally, I hated the idea of giving up my hard earned money from my minimum wage job at Chocolatte's. I cringed at the sight of my bank statement after the payment was removed, but I ultimately learned the importance of working hard for the things I desired. My car seemed to drive alot smoother on my dollar.

    Led the Freshman Retreat
Bishop Verot Freshman Retreat At the beginning of my senior year, I decided to lead Bishop Verot's annual Freshman Retreat, an experience I held close to my heart after attending it my freshman year. Although at first I found the idea of spending a weekend with freshman slightly annoying, I connected with my group on a spiritual level and overall had an awesome time. I learned to keep an open mind in all situations and enjoy every experience.
