    A meeting of the Estates General is called by King Louis XVI in Versailles to discuss and approve a new tax plan which was the first meeting since 1614.

    Representatives of the Third Estate establish the National Assembly where a few nobles and clergy joins the movment to establish a new constitution. This led for the Third Estate to be locked out of thier meeting group, so they established the National Assembly on a tennis court.

    Storming of the Bastille
    Armed citizens attacked and captured the prison Bastille in Paris whoch held political prisoners. The prison was a symbol of the monarchy's dictatorial rule. The governor was killed and beheaded, his head was carried on a spike down the streets of Paris. This was the beginning of the French Revolution.

    The Abolition of Feudalism
    The National Assembly had to act quickly with the "great fear" influencing the citizens of France. They proposed new reforms and to remove class privladges. The nobility adn the clergy gave up their exemptions from taxation. By the end of August, feudalish was gone.

    The National Asembly adopted and agreed on a new constitution containinf factors of human liberties and Enlightment ideas that isnpired and started the French Revolution. The Declatation of Human Rights for Man and Citizen.

    An angry mob of Parisian women marched to the palace of Versailles demanding bread. People were starving and their hatred for thier King and Queen Marie Antoniette for having big feasts made the women change the course of history. It brought an end to the monarchy in Versailles where the King and Quenn became prisoners to the Third Estate.

    King Louis XVI tried to flee to Varennes, however he was caught and returned to Paris. The Assembly removed the King from higher power. This led to the Champ de Mars Massacre because people wanted to keep the king under constitutional monarchy.

    The National Assembly completed the new constitution and Louis was forced to approve to a limited constitutional monarchy. It created the Legislative assembly which created laws and approve or reject declarations of war.

    The Legislative Assembly declares war on Austria and Prussia becuae they thought that it would unify the country. They wanted to spread the revolution ideas to all of Europe.
