Electric cars was an improvement from steam cars because it didn't take long to start up and it could not go as far as an electric car before it needed to stop to add water. While an electric car can run on a single charge battery and last longer.

  • First Automobile Ran on Gas

    First Automobile Ran on Gas
    Karl Friedrich Benz was the first to patent a car ran on gas with an internal combustion and three wheels. He built this off of a carriage without the horses and added an engine. This new car could go up to 16 mph. This was the first "real car" but ran on gas which left it to pollute more than a steam engine or an electric car.     Henry Ford invented the Model T car which was affordable to Americans he sold over 10,000 its first year. It was made out of English vanadium steel which was stronger than regular steel but he could still sell the car at a low price. Ford was able to create a lot of Model Ts with the help of the assembly line. The Model T made it more common for Americans to own cars because they were affordable.

    A Swedish automaker created the Volvo which was the first car to have the manufacturer offer seatbelts as a part of its standard equipment. These were made to help keep people safe in crashes. Crash tests were ran to make sure the driver and the passengers would be safer in an accident.
