    New Ford Mustand
    One of the world's most popular cars was introduced to the public at the New York's World Fair.Advertisements appeared in more than 2,600 newspapers and on the major television networks.
  • First Mustang GT

    They were available in all three body styles. Two optional V-8 engines were offered with the GT with either 225 or 271 hp and a choice of a three- or four-speed manual, or a Cruise-O-Matic transmission.

    The rear seat returned and more colors were offered on 1966 Shelby Mustangs, making them more consumer-friendly. The vents behind the windows were replaced with quarter windows on 1966 Shelbys to allow for more visibility. The fuel door wore a Cobra logo rather than the pony & tribar from '65.

    1967 was the only year for the GTA, which was a Mustang GT with an automatic transmission. They were available in coupe, fastback, or convertible and with either the 289 or 390 engine.

    The 428 Cobra Jet was introduced on April 1, 1968. A Ram Air induction setup was installed, as noted by the hood scoop and black hood stripe. The transmission options were a 4-speed manual or six-speed automatic.

    50 mUstangs Es
    Only about 50 Mustang Es were produced. They were economy cars with a 250ci six cylinder engine, automatic transmission with a special torque converter, and a low 2.33:1 rear axle ratio. They were all sportsroofs, and had Mustang 'E' lettering on the rear quarters.

    the 1972 model had a small "Mustang" script on the right side of the decklid. Government regulations required changes in the way engines were rated, and while the output remained the same from 1971, the horsepower ratings dropped damaging the image of the Mustang as a muscle car.

    The fuel crisis had moved buyers' preferences from large, gas-guzzling muscle cars to smaller, more fuel-efficient cars. The turn signals in the grille were turned vertical rather than the horizontal placement on 1971-1972 models.

    Four-cylinder Mustangs were dubbed "MPGs" to emphasize their great fuel economy, and a Mustang II Stallion special edition wore a stallion badge on the front fender. It was available on both the coupe and hatchback.

    a limited edition of 2,000 special edition cars. They all came in Emerald Green, and were called 7-Up cars because Ford made a green and white convertible for a 7-Up ad, but the contract fell through.

    SVT's first offering was the 1993 Mustang SVT Cobra. Their modifications resulted in 10 more horsepower and better handling. Later in the year they offered a race-ready Cobra R.

    The GT model was a SOHC at 215 horsepower, and the Cobra model was a 32-valve DOHC at 305 horsepower.

    1998 Mustangs were nearly identical to 1996 and 1997 models. The dash clock from 1994-1997 models was removed. The Cobra got five spoke wheels and was offered in yellow and blue.

    The V-6 and GT were indiscernible from the outside, except for the dual exhaust cutouts in the bumper of the GT. 2000 would be the last year that 16" wheels came standard on GT. The GTs with 16s were speed governed at 110 mph.

    Expect it to deal somewhere around 350 horsepower. Advanced models should retain 5.0L Coyote V8 engine and 450 horses, only it should make Boss 302-ish power in the 2015 car. Transmission is still six-speed, but Ford is developing 10 speed transmission, but it might come in later models.
