Berlin Blockade

1948

The four countries involved are The United states, United kingdom, France, and the USSR. Using physical blockades the soviets controlled how many goods were coming in and out of western Germany. This prevented the growth of Germany : which the USSR was deathly terrified of. This is the 5th most important most important Event for me.

Korean War

Jun 25, 1950

Participates are China, south Korea, North Korea, Britain, United states. The first military action of the cold war Era. The United states wanted to prevent the spread of communism after north korea passed the 38th parallel. China was supporting the younger communist party of North Korea. This is my second most important event.

Vietnam War

1955

The vietnam war was a battle against the ever growing communism and capitalism. North vietnam brought supported communism while south vietnam supported capitalism and was backed by The united states. This war was a gorilla warfare war. Many soldiers were taken with grotesque tricks.

Suez Canal Crisis

1956

The participants are Egypt, France, Israel, and the United Kingdom. Egypt started the war by taking over the Suez Canal which was owned by The two European superpowers in france and British companies. The war lasted about a war causing a shortage in resources. This is my 10th most important event on my list.

U-2 Incident

1958

There were very high tensions between the US and the USSR. The Soviet Union then shot down an unmarked aircraft, and it ended up being a US Spy plane. This upset Russia, and eventually caused it's diplomat to walk out of the Paris Peace talks. The US and USSR were involved. This is the 10th most important event because it was only a minor amount of deaths compared to other events, and the peace talks could have only gone so far.

Cuban Missile Crisis

1962

The USSR used cuba to hold their nuclear weapons and stop the United States from thinking about doing anything dumb. with the positioning of the atomic bombs was of great importance to The united states because it can cover the whole united states in craters similar to the moon.

Space race

1969

The USSR and the United States had friendly competitions such as the space race to show whose technology is better than the others. The USSR had many failed attempts along with the United States however the United States still came out with the win over the USSR. This is the 11th most important event.

Yom Kippur War

1973

An Arab-Israeli war that was initiated by Egypt and Syria. There had been three Arab-Israeli wars before this, which caused tensions to be higher. The war drew the attention of the US and the Soviet Union, which forced the two into an indirect confrontation due to their alliships with the other countries. Egypt attempted a peaceful compromise, but Israel rejected the proposed terms and incited war. This is the fourth most important event on the list because it was a bloody war.

Soviet war in Afghanistan

1979

Anti-communist Muslim groups were beginning to form in Afghanistan. The groups were trying to overthrow the already established communist government, causing the Soviet Union to intervene. The Soviets were so in support of the communist agenda in Afghanistan that it started a war. This involved the USSR and Afghanistan. This is the fourth most important event due to it being a very ideological and suppressing war.

Flight 607

1983

The USSR shot down a korean plane furthermore increasing the hostilities between the communist and capitalist nations.
