Civil RIghts Act of 1964
This Civil Rights Act banned segregation in public buildings, and gave the government the power to compel school boards from keeping their schools segregated. It also banned discrimination in the workplace of account of race, sex, color, or national origin. This also established the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
