    Cortes left spain to go to the New World and went to Mexico. He found the Aztecs and took their whole city, their gold (99 tons), and he conqured the Aztecs by killing their leader. His finding of so much gold sparked even more exploration because everyone wanted all this gold they found.

    Fray Marcos and Esteban were looking for the 7 Cities of Gold. Esteban died by entering the Zuni village and asking for their women and food. Fray Marcos reported that the 7 Cites of Gold were real.

    De Soto was the original leader of the expedition that Moscoso was in. De Soto died However, on May 21, 1542 because of a Fever near the Mississippi River. The Expedition Moscoso and De Soto are said to be the first to people to see the Mississippi river, but Pineda must have crossed the River.

    Coronado first went to try to find the 7 cities of gold, but then he met a Indian who talked about a city made completely out of gold and run by Amazon Women. The city was called Quivera. The guide who led Coronado and his men was named Turk. When Coronado fond out Turk was lying, he made him dig his own grave and then Coronado strangled him. Coronado found the Palo Duro Canyon and the Grand Canyon. The importance of Coronado was that he stopped exploration in Texas for 150 years.
