Christopher Colombus first voyage
Christopher Colombus set sail on his first voyage. He was looking for riches because Spain had been at war , and was broke . He also wanted to find the route quickly. He looked for India, and ended up finding the Bahamaswhich he called "The new world" because he thought he was the first to discover it.He was wrong though because there were Native americans that inhabited that area, and since he thought he was in India he called them Indians. This led to exploration of North, and South America. -

Cortes Voyage
Hernan Cortes was looking for gold but instead he conquered Mexico and the Aztec empire , and their leader Montesuma . He also found a million dollars worth of gold, 99 tons of gold by 1570.Cortes also discovered, and named California. This is important because it led to the fall of the Aztec empire. -

Pinda's voyage
PIneda wanted to find a water route that led to the Pacific Ocean. Instead he was the fist to map the gulf coast from Florida to Texas. Pineda also made a report of the region .This is important because he made the map of the gulf of Mexico which made other explorers want to explore that area. -

De Vaca's voyage started he wanted to help Narvez his leader find gold.De Vaca was the first to explore in Texas, first to write about the Texas Indians. De Vaca also performed the first "surgery" in Texas as a medicine man.The purpose of De Vaca expedition was to find gold. -

De Vaca started his exploration in Florida with Narvez. They got stranded in Florida, they built five boats to get to Cuba. Then got shipwrecked in Galveston, and discoveres Galveston,Central Texas,West Texas.De Vaca spends nine years discovering texas.During this time he discoveres Karankawas,Couhlitecans, and Jumano tribes.He and other survivors became slaves, and escaped walked through Texas.Eight years later they were found in California, and told hearing stories of golden cities . -

Fray Marcos and Esteban Journey
Fray Marcus and Esteban wanted to study the land to the north. Esteban returned as a guide with a priest named Fray Marco. Esteban was also the first black man in Texas.Esteban sent white crosses as signs to Fray Marcos.Got killed by the Zunis for demanding their women and food.Fray Marcos reports seeing the most beautiful and grand city. Coronado is then sent to find his grand city. -

Coronado was a true conquistador and wanted to find the seven cities of gold for Spain.Coronado searched for Quiveraa and Zuni.Coronados journey is important because he was the first to discover southern USA. -

Moscoso Expedition
Moscoso's leader was Desoto.The purpose of their expedition was to search for gold.Moscoso was exploring from Florida toTexas. Moscoso discovered the Mississippi river and died then was thrown into the Mississippi river.This is important because he explored the Mississippi river which led to further exploration.
