    The Titanic was believed to be unsinkable when it was built. On April 10th, the ship left Southampton, England, for her maiden voyage. It was, at the time, the largest ship in the world. On April 14th, Titanic hit an iceberg. It took on freezing water and started sinking. There were only 20 lifeboats, and only 705 people survived out of 2,200.
