    First, The French monarchy was heavily in debt. Numerous wars and bad finances, which ultimately lead to a number of taxes across the country. Second, drought hit the country hard. Food was hard to come by and bread was getting more expensive, leading to riots. Third, the Third Estate was getting tired of the Second and Third Estate to a point that they started calling for a better life.

    Tennis Court Oath
    The Third Estate Finding themselves locked out of their usual meeting hall at Versailles and thinking that the king was forcing them to disband, they moved to a nearby indoor tennis court. There they took an oath never to separate until a written constitution had been established for France. This was a point of no turning back for the Revolutionaries

    Storming of the Bastille
    On 14 July 1789, a state prison on the east side of Paris, known as the Bastille, was attacked by an angry and aggressive mob. The prison had become a symbol of the monarchy’s dictatorial rule and tyranny, and the event is thought of by some as the official start of the revolution

    After being put under house arrest in Paris, King Louis XVI with his wife tried to flee France in search of safety. Ultimately they were caught trying to flee and with evidence of Louis XVI’s counterrevolutionary intrigues with Austria and other foreign nations was discovered, and he was put on trial for treason by the National Convention and later executed by guillotined.

Napoleon crowns himself the Emperor of France and both militaristically and economically creates France as the powerhouse of the world once again.

    Napoleons greed of wanting Europe led to one of his most disastrous defeats. After conquering mainly all of mainland Europe, Napoleon turned to Russia in order to take out one of the last barriers in his way of Europe. While invading Russia with one of the largest armies Europe has ever seen, Napoleon made a tactical error that left his army depleted in resources. This error created drastic problems and killed off almost his entire army. This defeat some say led to the fall of the French Empire
