    Spontaneous Generation

    Spontaneous Generation
In 340 BCE Arostotile, a greek philosopher, discovered a way in which maggots spontaneously generated on a piece of meet. He did not realise what had happened at the time of which he lived.

    Light Microscope Continued
The optical microscope invention was the first invention of the microscope. It is globally believed that Dutch spectacle makers, Zacharias Jansen and his father Hans were responsible for making the first compound microscope in the late 16th century (Z Janssen c. 1580 - 1638).

A light microscope works like a refracting telescope except that the object is very close to the objective lens. It is important in the development in cell theory because it helped scientists see deeper into the cell.
  • Cell Theory Cotinued

    Cell Theory Cotinued
This discovery of the cell from Robert Hooke, started the development of the cell theory.
  • Cell Theory

    Cell Theory
In biology, cell theory is a scientific theory which describes the properties of cells. These cells are the basic unit of structure in all organisms and also the basic unit of reproduction. With continual improvements made to microscopes over time, magnification technology advanced enough to discover cells in the 17th century. This discovery is largely attributed to Robert Hooke, and began the scientific study of cells, also known as cell biology.
  • Hooke

    Hooke
Hooke published his book Micrographia descibing things he had analised under a microscope which inspired Leeuwenhoek's discoveries. He also stated the word "cell" after observing a piece of cork and saw little boxes that made up the piece of cork
  • Leeuwenhoek's discovery of the microscope

    Leeuwenhoek's discovery of the microscope
At some time before 1668, Leeuwenhoek had learned to combined lenses helping him to manufacture simple microscopes, which he used to make observations of cell bodies. Which ment he had part in starting cell theory.
  • Hooke

    Hooke
With Leeuwenhock's new dicoved information about the microscope, Hooke invented his own. which was a light microscope and it was very hard to use
  • Theodore Schwann

    Theodore Schwann
While he dined our to eat with Schleiden that year, he discoused and declared that"all living things are composed of cells".He is considered the animal guy of cell theory. He also has a different type of cell named after him.
  • Vichow

    Vichow
He said that "one cell must stem from another cell". Which was then put together for the grand conclusion of cell theory. He put the modern day cell theory together. This lead to multiple new discoveries in the medical field and in the scientific field
  • Matthias Jakob Schleiden

    Matthias Jakob Schleiden
He discovered that all plants are made of embrotic material. This ment that all plants were made of cells. He is considered the plant guy of cell theory. By him discovering that plants are made of cells this inspired Schwann to find discover his discovery.
  • Sontaneous Generation Disproven

    Sontaneous Generation Disproven
After hundreds of years of scientists fighting for and against spontaneous generation, it was finally disproven that bugs cannot just rise from dust or rotten food.
  • Electron Microscope

    Electron Microscope
An electron microscope is a microscope that uses a beam of accelerated electrons as a source of illumination. Because the wavelength of an electron can be up to 100,000 times shorter than light photons, the electron microscope has a higher resolving power than a light microscope and can reveal the structure of smaller objects. The first practical electron microscope was constructed in 1938, at the University of Toronto, by Eli Franklin Burton and students Cecil Hall, James Hillier.

This is big in the development in Cell Theory because it helped scientists make out smaller organelles of the cell.
