    Stewart Indian School opens to assimilate children. Stewart removed children from their families, forbidding the speaking of native languages, and implemented other forms of harsh treatment.
  • Indian Appropriations Act

    Congress passed Indian Appropriations Act to provide money to buy land for homeless Washoes and purchase land for non-reservation Nevada Indians.
  • Bureau of Indian Affairs land purchase

    Twenty acres of land purchased by BIA for RSIC for $6,000.
  • Citizenship

    Native Americans became US citizens.

    The RSIC established its first constitution and formed a Tribal Council.
