    Bedtime Stories
    As a little girl I remember my mom and dad reading bedtime stories to me which sparked my love for stories and tales. I remember enjoy flipping through picture books even though I couldn't read.

    When I entered Kindergarten I knew no English but my teacher Mrs. Bird helped me learned English. I remember always taking home books about a yellow chick along with a tape recording of the book that I would listen to with my mom.

    My family would take summer trips to Mexico and my parents would always buy my brother and I, Spanish books to read while on vacation.

    Whenever possible while my brother and I were in elementary school, our mom would take us to public library events where we would get books for free or there was special readings with crafts.

    In third grade our teacher would read us Harry Potter books and I instantly fell in love with the wizard fantasy world. This helped spark my love for fantasy and magic.

    In 4th and 5th grade I was introduced to The Series of Unfortunate Events. These books had my hypnotized and I fell in love with the writing style of Lemony Snicket.

    I grew up watching a lot of anime as a kid and when I learned about manga in middle school, it was no surprize I found a new type of book I loved to read.
  • Summer Reading

    Summer Reading
    Middle school hits and my love for books grew because they would transport me into other worlds I found amazing. I would go to the library every two weeks in the summer and check out 15-20 books that I would finish too quickly to my liking.

    When I was introduced into poetry I loved how simple it seemed but it wasn't simple at all. I started to read more poetry books and write poetry. I had a poem published in 6th grade and attended a poetry convention.
  • Fantasy

    In high school the more I read the more I wanted to become a writer. My passion was fantasy, anything that had to do with magic and the fae. I would often impress the librarian with how fast I would finish books and he always had great suggestions for which book to read next.
