  • 16th Amendment

    This amendment allowed Congress to issue an income tax without having to determine it based on population. William Taft was President during this time, 1909-1913.
  • Mann Elkins Act

    Mann Elkins Act
    This gave the ICC the power to set maximum freight rates. They also were allowed to suspend freight changes for up to 10 months. WIlliam Taft was president during this time. His term was 1909-1913

    This gave the Fed the ability to print money and policy tools to ensure economic stability. President Woodrow Wilson signed this act into law, his term was 1913-1921.

    The 17th Amendment stated that the US will have two Senators from each state who are elected by the people. These Senators will carry out six years and each Senator will have one vote. President Woodrow Wilson passed this act, his term was 1913-1921.
