Belgium and France occupy the Ruhr region in Germany after they did not pay their reparation fees. -

Hitler and the Nazis attempt to overthrow the Bavarian government but fail. They are arrested, charged with treason and sent to jail. -

Hitler goes on trial for the beer hall putsch. He is sentenced to 5 years in prison but only servs 10 months. While in jail he wrote Mein Kampf. -
League of German Worker Youth is created
Hitler created the League of German Worker Youth. It was a branch of the Nazi party that focused more on the German youth. -

Nazi’s earned 18.3% of the vote in the election, making them Germany’s second largest political party. -

Reichstag Fire.
A fire broke out on one of Germanys political buildings and the Nazi’s opposing political party was blamed. As a result, their party was banned from Germany. This gave the Nazi’s a clear majority in the government. -
Hitler ordered a new election.
The Nazi’s finished first with 44% of the popular vote. -
The Enabling Act.
This act gave Hitler the power to pass laws without consulting with the Reichstag. -
The Gestapo, or the Nazi’s secret police, were created.

The Burning of the Books.
25,000 not Nazi approved books were burned in order to stop the spread of “Un-German spirit”. -
Hitler passed a bill that stated that any creation if another political party is banned.

150 leaders of the Nazi military were executed. They were boycotting some of the Nazi’s beliefs. -
President Hindenburg dies.
Hitler's combines the position of chancellor and president into one title. He is now called the Fuhrer. -
