Lacy and Peter
Lacy gave birth to Peter. He was very collicky and would cry a lot. Lewis, Lacy's husband, was an economist that studied the process on how to be happy. This is ironic because he is never around. -
Alex and Lacy
Alex was attending Lacy's birthing classes because they both were pregnant. Alex had to leave early because there was a plea bargain she had to deal with. Alex talks to Lacy about wanting to give up her baby. -
Alex's decision
Alex and Lacy talk about Alex's decision to give up the baby since Alex would be a singe mother. Her baby's dad, Logan, was Alex's trial advocacy professor. Alex is still uncertain but she notices bleeding and freaks out thiinking she had a miscarriage. -
Peter's First Day of School
Peter was tripped on the bus and his lunchbox was thrown out the window. Peter sat by Josie which made him happy. After continuous bullying towards Peter, Josie decided to stop his bullies and beat up Drew. Alex was called to the principal's office because of Josie's actions. Peter feels like his parents love Joey more and because he was sensitive, other boys were prone to pick on him. Peter's teacher told LAcy that Peter needded to learn how to fight back and Lacy punished Peter. -
Peter and Josie
Peter just wanted people to like him at school but when he got glasses, he could see how people really looked at him. Peter and Josie played house and pretended they were married. Lacy and Alex described their kids as tender and mine. -
Alex
Alex received the position of District Court Judge. Alex is pro-firearms and thinks no one has the right to judge others. Even though this was a good job, Alex was lonely and no one at work tried to get to know her or be friends with her. Alex finds Josie holding a gun with Peter in Lacy's basement which causes Alex to take Josie home and forbid her to be friends with Peter. -
Alex and Lacy's First Meet
When they ran into each other going to pick up their kids from school they were both worried about their own children and didn't really talk a lot. A couple days later was Josie's birthday and they ended doing what Alex wanted to do, not what Josie wanted to do. -
Peter's First Day of Sixth Grade
Lacy gave Peter a superman notebook for his first day of school. During lunch, Drew pushed Peter and made him spill his milk. When the planes crashed into the twin towers, Josie was crying and scared while Peter was in shock and disbelief. -
Soccer
After soccer practice, Drew and Matt saw Peter looking at them and so they soaked his towel and broke his glasses. Derek was a smalled kid like Peter who was also a part of the soccer team. At the soccer game when Lacy saw that Peter wasn't going in to play, she embarrassed Peter by standing up and talking to his coach. -
Peter is Gentle
Lewis took Peter out hunting for his first time and Peter purposely missed the deer. Lewis quickly shot it so it didn't get away and Peter threw up in the trees. Two days later, Peter yelled out that Delores had her period and everyone layed tampons on her desk until it was Peter's turn to lay one down and he refused. -
Josie is Changing
When Josie had went over to Courtney's to work on a school project, they talked about how their rooms were different and then Josie used Courtney's makeup without asking. When Peter didn't do what the others did, Josie told him that they couldn't hangout for a while. -
Dozer
When Dozer died, Peter went up to comfort his mom and her told her about his favorite memory with Dozer. -
Peter's Daily Life
In the bathroom at school Joey was with a friend and Joey called Peter names and told him to get lost. Peter had a job at Quikcopy which Josie now worked there as well. Peter's presentation to the class was about the popularity status of the kids in his class and everyone was really quiet. Peter mentioned Josie's name in an effort to establish their friendship again. The only thing that saved Josie from this humilliation was that she was dating Matt so no one was allowed to make fun of her. -
Josie's Life at Home
Josie wondered why her father never tried to contact her. When she tracked him down, he gave her $300 and told her to leave. Josie had sex with Matt in the ditch after driving home from meeting her real dad. Since Alex has never seen anyone, Liz, the groundskeeper, decided to set her up on a blind date. When Alex's blind date showed up, she turned him down because he was childish and innapropriate. -
Peter's Life at Home
Lewis used to play a game with himself after his kids were born about what he was first willing to lose: marriage, job, or a child. At Peter's job, he wanted Josie to save him so he created a dumpster fire which Josie pulled him away from. Since Peter had now been talking to Josie, he thought he could at school too. When Matt saw Peter talking to Josie, he beat him up. -
School in Relationship to Peter
Peter circled faces in his yearbook in order to use these as ideas for his new game. Also, Peter's teacher had asked him to stay at the end of class to tell him that he had aced his essay. One night Peter went to Front Runner, which is a gay bar, and he ran into his teacher Mr. McCabe there. -
Matt and Josie
After a party at Maddie's house, Matt got mad at Josie for not leaving when he said and he pinned her against the wall until she said sorry. Josie was in an air cast because she had said something to Matt that he didn't like so he hit her so hard that she fell and hurt her ankle. -
Peter and Josie
Peter and Josie were stuck in an elevator so they played games to pass the time away. They ended up kissing. When Peter got home from being stuck in the elevator his parents were crying. Joey had died in a car accident. -
Josie and Matt's Relationship
In Josie's living room while her mom was sleeping, Matt forced her to have sex and he didn't used a condom. Later on Josie finds out she is pregnant and says it's her cross to bear. -
Peter's Email
Peter sent an email to Josie telling her how he felt about her. Courtney opened this email and without letting Josie read it, forwarded it to Drew to be spamed to the whole high school. Josie found out about the email from Matt and Drew. Courtney told Peter that Josie liked him a lot and she was over Matt. Peter went up to Josie and Matt pantsed him. Josie kept Peter's lunch so she wouldn't feel so bad. -
Relationship between Alex and Josie
Alex is a judge and she doesn't spend a lot of time with Josie. They both lie to each other to make the other person happy. What Alex doesn't know is that Josie is hiding some of Alex's sleeping pills in her room as a back-up plan if she wants to die. -
Detective Patrick Ducharme
Patrick is a small town detective. He si the only detective so he is always ery busy because he's the one who has to do everything. He thought he as a failure because he was always too late. -
School Shooting
Peter triggered an emotional state this morning because of an email he was embarrassed about. Lacy, Peter's mother, was a mid-wife and after he left to go to school, she went into his room and made his bed without him being in there. -
Josie and Matt
Matt and Josie were dating and were both apart of the posse. Other posse members include: Emma, Maddie, Haley, John, Brady, Trey and Drew. Josie was abused physically, mentally, and emotionally by Matt. -
Results of the Shooting
Patrick helped the crime sceen be more organized by marking sstudentes and locations of victims with numbered yellow shock-blankets. Also, Patrick found a video camera in the top corner of the cafeteria which would help greatly in the investigation. -
The Victims
John was shot by Peter and fell out of the window. As Patrick walked through the school, he noticed the last victim was shot twice. During the shooting, Josie had fainted and cut her head. Lacy heard Peter's name and found out he was the shooter. Alex found out that the list of the victims was posted at the hockey rink. Diana was suppose to deal with the media and Jordan was going to represent Peter as his lawyer. -
Josie and Matt in the Locker Room
Matt told Josie that he loved her. When the gun slid across the floor and landed by Josie's foot, she picked it up. Josie then shot Matt in the stomach. When Peter said "Don't tell" to Josie he meant that she would keep it a secret that she shot Matt instead of Peter. -
Peter's Cell
Peter felt alone in his cell. Jordan came in and had a one-sided conversation with Peter. Peter remembered when he killed his fish when he was little. The tape used to block off the crime scene was the same tape that was used during 9/11. Also, at his own home, police were questioning Lewis to make sure that he could verify that two of his guns were missing. -
Josie
When Josie left the hospital the next day, she saw Haley Weaver. When Josie had returned home, she got dressed to go to Peter's trial. Alex completely disagreed with Josie and wouldn't let her go to the trial. After that, Josie would just tell her mom that she needed a nap and her mom would leave her alone. -
Patrick and Alex's Day
The next morning when Patrick returned to the school, he commented the school looked liked a spiderweb because of all the string that was mapping out the important details. As Patrick investigated further, he found out Peter had only used two out of the four guns that he brought to the school. When Josie was brought into the hospital, there were questions as to if Alex should be on this case. Alex thought she shouldn't be removed because a different judge wouldn't justify this case. -
Josie and the Funeral
Josie went to Matt's funeral and started sobbing after she had walked up to the podium. After she had returned home, Patrick wanted to talk to her about Peter. They talked in the kitchen and Josie told him about how Josie had known Peter but they weren't friends. -
Patrick's Investigation
Patrick found a video camera from the lunchroom that showed Peter's progression throughout the school shooting. Peter stopped and sat down to have a bowl of cereal. Also, the geek squad, as Patrick calls them, found games Peter had created on his computer. Peter also hacked the computer's at school which caused the car to blow up. -
Jordan and Peter's Conversation
Peter talks to Jordan about his bullies and how they were the cause of this shooting. He also tells Jordan about everything they would do to him. Lewis went back to work and the chairman came and told him he needed to take some time off. -
Peter's Day
After Peter had been convicted, his room had been stripped of all his personal belongings. Peter was placed in a maximum security cell which mean't to him that he didn't have a roommate or recreation time. Peter heard someone talking to him in his cell and the voice said it's name was Carnivore. A little while later Lacy came to visit Peter and gave him a hug. He yelled at her for not really looking at him for the past 17 years. -
Josie is Lonely
Josie snuck out of her room to watch a video from her sweet sixteen party. She wanted to see Matt and her other friends alive. While she was downstairs, she took off the golden locket Matt had given her and put it in the couch cushion. The following day, Alex took Josie outside for the first time and when a truck backfired, Josie fell on the sidewalk crying because she thought it was gunshots. -
The Grief
When Lacy went to buy milk from the grocery store, she donated all of her money to the Memorial Fund for the Victims of Sterling High, instead of buying milk. At the town grief session, Mark yelled at Jordan for defending Peter and many parents were wondering where their children would now go to school. Also, Alex relates this time back to her and father who didn't consider himself a father. He didn't teach his daughter what most fathers do. -
Secrets
Mr. McCabe is gay and his partner is Philip. Also, Joey, Peter's brother, was a senior, an honor student, and an athlete. He died when a drunk driver crashed into him. Joey's secret was that he did drugs like heroin. -
New School
When Jordan left his office, he noticed all four of his tires were slashed probably because he was defending Peter in the case. Sterling high was relocated to the Mount Lebanon grade school and had many new rules for safety and protection. -
Regular Day
Drew picked Josie up for school and gave her one of Matt's hats that he had left in Drew's car. While Alex was taking a smoke break at work, Patrick came and talked to her about vices and the kids first day back to school since the shooting. -
Jordan's Plan
Jordan learned many things about Peter, even that his own brother bullied him. Jordan used post-traumatic stress diorder as his legal defense of Peter saying that Peter was suffering from bullied victim syndrome. -
The Probable Cause Hearing
Peter created Hide-N-Shriek which would have the player go around the halls of the school and collect weapons to kill the bully. At the Probable Cause Hearing, Jordan decided to waive the hearing and Peter told Jordan that he had been trying to kill himself. On Patrick's way to the hearing he was called to Smyth's Gun Shop because a victim's mother had shot herself in the mouth right in the store. -
The Victims
The first person to be shot was Zoe Patterson on the school steps. In honor of the victims, 10 white crosses were located along Route 10 as a makeshift memorial. -
Peter's Choice of Weapons
Peter talked to Jordan about how to make a bomb. When Peter's dad saw him filtering crystals for the bomb, he thought Peter was doing it for extra credit in science class. When the car place had called Louis to remind him of Peter's appointment, he kept it because Peter had scheduled it and Lewis wanted to keep it for him. When Lacy visited Peter in jail, he told her that if she would walk out on him, she would worry about the outcome of that too. -
Charges against Peter
Jordan and Diana were both shocked that Alex was still on the case. Peter was charged with 10 counts of first degree murder, possession of firearms on school grounds, possession of explosive devices, unlawful use of an explosive device, and receiving stolen goods. After an outburst had occured in the courtroom, Alex made Peter open his hand and drop a piece of glass he had collected. After the gathering, Alex went and picked Josie up from school. -
Alex Stepped Down
Alex found a box full of old memories from Josie's childhood in Josie's closet. Jordan lists Josie as a defense witness which forces Alex to step down off the case. When Patrick has a meeting with Alex, she is crying and worried about Josie potentially being a witness. Alex then goes to Jordan's house to question him as to why he is calling Josie as a witness when she has already told them everything she knows. -
Patrick and Alex
Patrick and Alex had been dating for four months now. As long as Alex was happy, Josie was happy. Throughout this relationship, Josie had been telling Alex that she was tutoring other students at the school all summer. She was really going to the cementary to visit Matt. -
Preparing Peter for the Trial
Lacy went shopping and bought really expensive clothes for Peter for his trial because she said it would be the last time she could ever buy him anything. When Lewis went to visit Peter he apologized for Peter's whole life and not being there for him. -
Josie Loses It
One night Josie runs from the supper table because she thinks everyone else has moved on from the shooting except for her. Alex went and told Josie she would go with her through the hard times in order to comfort Josie. When Josie wanted to go to the final trial, Alex let her because she knew Josie could make her own decisions. -
Morning of the Trail
The Bullied Victims of America were on the steps of the courtroom to support Peter. Jordan gave Peter a new pair of glasses to make him look professional before the trial. Dianan opening statement talked about how Peter knew what he was doing and he could have done many other things in 19 minutes. Jordan talked about how Peter was bullied by his peers since the first day of kindergarten. -
The Trial
Both Zoe and Michael talked about the order of events that took place that day. While Lacy waited to testify for Peter, she remembered the time when she realized she could hate her own child. When Peter saw Haley he thought he was going to explode and die. When Drew testified, the prosecution made him look good, but for the defense he told how he was a bully and it was a joke. -
The Trial Continued
Dusty explained to the jury that the school's policy for school bullying was the teachers were to report the incident to a supervisor but nothing other than that. Derek was called to testify against Peter because Diana though Derek would turn on Peter. -
Right After the Trial
Alex told Lacy that she should remember the good times and when their kids were innocent. When Alex told Josie about the email read in court, Josie was shocked and then played it off like it was no big deal. When Peter returned to his cell, he felt left out og the group because no one was friends in jail unless you fit in and Peter didn't. -
Lacy During the Trial
When Lacy was called to testify she stopped and gave Peter a kiss. She started crying and a man stood up angry because Peter had killed his daughter. When recess was called, Selena took Lacy to a room by the janitor's closet filled with old mops. Alex came in and said for Lacy to be strong and just look at her. -
Peter's Decision During Recess
When Jordan went to meet Peter during recess, Peter got mad at Jordan and said he wanted to tell his side of the story. When they returned to the trial Jordan called Peter Houghton as his next witness. Peter broke from the script when he denied saying that he didn't plan to shoot the kids at the school. Selena made a pity supper for Jordan that he called the Execution Meal and it was goose. -
Peter's Mental State
Jordan felt it was an important fact that Dr. Uppergate didn't ever meet with Peter to diagnose him because psychiatry was seeing how that client thought of things. King Wah had Dr. Ghertz take scans of Peter's brain to rule out schizophrenic and bipolar disorder. Post-traumatic stress disorder works in Peter's case because he was bullied continuously since kindergarten. -
Patrick's Day of the Shooting
Patrick heard the signal on the radio, kids running out of the school, the feeling of the caving in on him, the slippery floors from the blood, screams for help. -
After Josie's Confession
Eleanor helped escort Alex out of the courtroom. Patrick told Diana that Matt couldn't have been the one to shoot at Peter. Josie lied in the beginning because she was scared and pretending to be the girl everyone wants her to be. -
Peter's Conviction
Peter is convicted of eight first degree murders and two second degree murders. In Lewis's classroom, he saw two kids bullying another kid in the back, he stopped it. When Lacy went to Peter's room, she put everything in boxes and then unpacked it all again. Peter killed himself in his cell by suffocating himself. -
Josie Remebers
On Saturday, Selena showed up at Josie's house to rehearse what she was going to say when she went up on the witness stand. In Jordan's office Josie said that she remembered more that what she told them before about the shooting. When Patrick found out a bullet was missing he went back to the locker room and discovered the gun was shot from a different angle than where Matt was. Josie told the truth and walked through what happened that morning. -
19 Minutes
The school's design had been changed and some of the layout was different. ID's were required and there was an open concept to make people feel more safe and secure. Alex's new job was a public defender and she is pregnant with Patrick. Patrick and Alex watched a striker charge a defenseman and knock him down. After the goal was made, the striker went back to help the defenseman up and talked with him.
