Mosaic--My First Web Browser
My Dad taught me how to use Mosaic around his birthday, April 30, in 1994. I was amazed at how much information I could find. I remember checking the weather in Rome and being excited about how I could find information about a faraway place instantly. My First DVD Player
When my Dad bought my family's first DVD player in the Fall of 1997, it revolutionized how we watched movies. We had VHS tapes and LaserDiscs prior to DVD. With DVDs, my family and I could have an incredible audiovisual experience watching a movie. As the years progressed, the selection of DVDs was outstanding and provided countless hours of entertainment for us. In fact, they still do! My First High-Definition Television
My parents decided to purchase a high-definition television in the spring of 1998. It made the terrific image quality of DVDs even better. Before we bought a high-definition television, I did not think there could be a better image than the one our cathode-ray tube television made. My First Broadband Internet Modem
When my Dad told me about Broadband Internet access, I was very excited. We could have far faster browsing speeds and we did not have to choose between surfing the Web and using the phone. Life at home became so much more convenient with it. All of the problems I remembered with Dial-up Internet access vanished within weeks of using Broadband! Myspace--My First Social-Networking Website
After my first year of college, I wanted to find a way to contact my friends other than by calling them. A friend told me about Myspace and I thought it would be a great alternative to using a phone.
