First Exposures to Media Timeline

  • Television

A television (also known as a TV) is a machine with a screen. Televisions receive broadcasting signals and turn them into pictures and sound. Sometimes a television can look like a box. Older TVs had a large cathode ray tube in a large wooden frame and sat on the floor like furniture. Newer TVs are much lighter and flatter. Back then since I don't have other children in our neighborhood to play with, I have no choice but to find another kind of entertainment which is watching the television.
  • Radio

Radio is the technology of using radio waves to carry information, such as sound, by systematically modulating properties of electromagnetic energy waves transmitted through space, such as their amplitude, frequency, phase, or pulse width. I loved using this to listen to music and news.
  • Computer

A computer is a device that can be instructed to carry out sequences of arithmetic or logical operations automatically via computer programming. Modern computers have the ability to follow generalized sets of operations, called programs. These programs enable computers to perform an extremely wide range of tasks. My mom was the first one to introduce me to this and I really liked playing games here. It was used as my alternate distraction other than the television.
  • Magazines & Newspapers

A magazine is a publication, usually a periodical publication, which is printed or electronically published. This is and will always be my favorite because there's a lot I can do with it. It provides entertainment and knowledge. This is where I use the internet most of the time and where I play games too.
  • Laptop

A laptop, also called a notebook computer or simply a notebook, is a small, portable personal computer with a "clamshell" form factor, having, typically, a thin LCD or LEDcomputer screen mounted on the inside of the upper lid of the "clamshell" and an alphanumeric keyboard on the inside of the lower lid. This is more convenient than computer because you can carry this around wherever you go. It functions just like a computer but it's easier to manage.
  • Young Adult Books

Just like magazines and newspapers, young adult books gave me entertainment and information and ideas regarding writing stories of my own.
  • Wearable Technology

Wearable technology has a variety of applications which grows as the field itself expands. It appears prominently in consumer electronics with the popularization of the smartwatch and activity tracker. I didn't exactly owned one but I remembered that my classmate had it and he liked to brag about it. I really found it intriguing because it's a small electronic.
