Literacy Timeline - Jessica Gray

  • Before I was Born.

    Before I was Born.
My Mother was always into reading and she says when she was pregnant with me she would read to me, and I would always get so excited and move around she said.
  • "Trying," to Read to my Baby Sister

"Trying," to Read to my Baby Sister
When I grew up a little bit I could go on and on about several different things all at once, but not really understand anything I was understanding. I would pick up one of my Mothers school college books, and I would " read them," to my little sister.
  • Talking to Everyone

    Talking to Everyone
I was always a big one on talking to everyone. I would never pass up an opportunity to walk to the front of the class and talk.
  • My First Memoir

    My First Memoir
In the fourth grade I had a teacher named Mrs. Goodpaster and she made me write my first ever memoir. I believe it was about my softball accident.
  • My Favorite Series

    My Favorite Series
I discovered this book when I was a Barnes and Noble at a Hunger Games thing and I fell in love!! The book is about a mouse named Geronimo Stilton that does a bunch of crazy stuff, and solves tons of mysteries.
  • Barnes and Noble

    Barnes and Noble
As I got older and older I lost the majority of interests in books, and reading, but I loved going to Barnes and Noble because all the workers there already knew my name because I went there so much! They would let me help them pick out their monthly theme for the store!
  • My First Poem

    My First Poem
I was in the seventh grade and I was hating my Language Arts class. I was never focused when it came to that class, and it's hard to be "all in it," when you aren't focused. One day after a test my teacher assigned me a poem to read, and I had to make me own after, and I will be honest it was bad I thought, but she absolutely loved it, and gave me good tips on how to make it better.
  • Youth Group Trip

    Youth Group Trip
My youth group and I went on a trip to Southern Alabama. We went to a camp they had down there with a bunch of different youth groups, and we got to listen to motivational speeches and do our own if we wanted.
  • My First Book Project

    My First Book Project
My eighth grade year I was assigned a book called " To Kill a Mocking Bird." After every chapter we would summarize what we read about and talk about it throughout the class.
  • My Favorite Paper

    My Favorite Paper
Mrs. Thompson made us write a paper about South Africans, and their lives.
