    Cooing sounds begin around 2 months old, as well as "pleasant" vowel sounds.

    4 Months old

    Child is now 4 months, begins playing "turn taking games" like peekaboo or patty cake

    6 Months Old

    Child is now 6 months old, more consistent babbling begins, the adding of consonants to coos begins, as well as word comprehension.

    8-12 Months Old

    Child is now 8 months old, understanding verbal labels on things in visual atmosphere, active participation and understanding of turn taking games, shows preverbal gestures aka., pointing towards or showing things to communicate
  • Period: to

    12- 18 Months Old

    The child has now had their first birthday!! The words the child babbles now start to resemble words often spoken in their environment by parents or care takers, speed and accuracy for word comprehension and recognition increase, and toddlers begin to speak first word
  • Period: to

    18-24 Months old

    Child is moving through 1.5- 2 year mark. In this time their vocabulary expands to around 50-250 recognizable spoken words, and they are learning and using two word sentences.

    24 - 36 Months

    Child is moving from 24 - 36 months, in this time period basic prepositions can be understood, talks clearly for most speech, and can speak in 2-3 word sentences confidently

    36-48 Months

    Child is now moving from 3rd to 4th year, the understanding of conceptualization is beginning. Can count objects, differ shapes and sizes, differentiates basic colors, forms longer sentences, correctly uses words like and or but.

    48-60 Months

    Child is moving from 4th to 5th year, can explain meanings of familair or commonly used words, reads few lettered words, follows simple multi step instructions
  • Period: to

    6 Years to 12 Years

    Child is now going through many different changes and stages, they begin to move from more egocentric language to social speech, incomplete sentences decline and more thought out and confident sentences begin, vocabulary by 12 years is around 50,000 words, and can accurately pick between right and left.
