    Friedrich Froebel created Kindergarten, an educational system created for young kids where they could start a learning process. Mr. Froebel wanted kindergarten to be a place for young kids to learn new stories, games, songs, and other means of learning with other kids their age.

    Horace Mann believed that teachers should take part in a one to two-year training course so teachers could be better at giving all students a better education. Mr. Mann also believed in a free educational program for all K-12 students, taxpayers would help fund these schools.

    Margaret Bancroft started the movement that students with disabilities need a special school so they too can receive an education. Bancroft opened a school that helped the disabled perform at the same level as other children and special teachers will help give them the opportunity. Her lesson plans consisted of students going to museums, art shows, musical shows.

    Booker T. Washington believed that all men should be educated and that African Americans needed an education. He thought that in order to be an independent person you need to be educated. He helped build the Tuskegee Normal Institute were African Americans can receive an education.

    John Dewey believed that people need to receive a good education in order to be go citizens. By having educated citizens people would be able to participate more in the community. Dewey believed that the teacher’s role in the classroom should be a bridge between students and ideas rather than a director presenting information to students. School would be a place were kids could come together and learn from one another and build on their knowledge.

    Maria Montessori believed in giving every student special education based on their needs. She helped accommodate students with special needs or students with disabilities.
