    The individual has just eaten a food allergen for the first time. However, the individual will not respond negatively or react yet.
  • IgE antibody is formed

    After the allergen is eaten, an IgE antibody is formed which attaches itself to cells located in the tissues which are all over the body
  • Body is primed for the specific allergen

    Body is primed for the specific allergen
    Since the individual has eaten the allergen, and the antibody has formed the body is now primed for that allergen, peanut butter, if it were to enter the body again
  • Food allergen enters the body

    Food allergen enters the body
    The individual has just eaten peanut butter, and will now find out they are allergic to it due to a reaction.
  • After the Individual eats the food allergen

    After the Individual eats the food allergen
    The allergen, peanut butter, attaches to the IgE antibodies. It then sends out signals for the body to release histamine, in large amounts.
  • Allergic Reaction

    Allergic Reaction
    The individual will now experience an allergic reaction. The individual could experience irritation and swelling in specific areas of the body. Also in some cases an individual could experience hives, shortness of breath, or in some cases even death. He/She may need to use an EpiPen if the reaction is very bad.
