    By decree of 30 June, the first fifteen Labour Institutes in Spain were created. Our centre is included in this list, thus adding to the educational offer in our region, which was already represented by the "Bárbara de Braganza" Institute in Badajoz and the "Santa Eulalia" Institute in Mérida.

    The "Santiago Apóstol" Labour Institute began to operate as a Secondary and Vocational School in the recently completed building of the "San Roque" School Group. That year it was the first year of the five that made up the Elementary Baccalaureate and to gain access to it, an entrance exam had to be passed. In this first stage, the number of pupils ranged between 100 and 130 boys.

    The students visit the "Bodega de Montero". At present, a large part of the building is still occupied by leisure premises in Avenida de la Paz, Calle Luna and Calle Hiedra. The students were presented with a small bottle of wine.

    At the end of this academic year, the current building, designed by the architect D. Manuel Fisac Serna, was completed.
    Manuel Fisac Serna, problems with the water supply and sewerage system delayed the transfer of the students to this building.
    Nine graduates of this Elementary Baccalaureate, and after passing the revalidation exam, will continue their studies in Tarazona (Zaragoza).

    Our pupils are qualified for the Gymnastics events at the School Championships.
    In addition to the music band, the centre had a choir.

    He was awarded the Higher Technical Baccalaureate in "Industrial Organisation".
    He started after the Elementary Baccalaureate.
    These were the facilities of the Electricity Classroom.

  • Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe Residence:

    The Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe Residence begins operating, with capacity for 36 not resident students in Almendralejo.
    It is renamed Instituto Técnico de Enseñanza Media.

    The High School Handball team qualified for the final of the Spanish Handball Championship. Championship in this discipline.

    This academic year will see the introduction of Vocational Training studies for the first year of Officialía, in the specialities of Electricity, Electronics and Mechanics.
  • Vocational Training Institute:

    Students in 5th year go on to 3rd year BUP, in application of the General Education Act of 1970.
    The Institute will be transformed into a Vocational Training Institute.
    In this academic year, 1st Grade Vocational Training studies (FP-I) will be introduced of the Administrative Branch. In 2nd Grade (FP-2) the students will study Administrative and Commercial.
    This means the entry of women as students in a centre that had been exclusively male.

    The students of the Administrative Branch, in 2nd Degree, may now also choose to study to study Computer Management.

  • Another edition of the European Festival of Greco-Latin Theatre in Mérida:

    Another edition of the European Festival of Greco-Latin Theatre in Mérida, in which our school has been participating. It has been held since 1997 and is carried out for and by for young people from all over Spain.
  • Diversity Week:

    Affective-Sexual Diversity Week is celebrated.
  • Cultural Routes through Extremadura programme:

    Once again this year, a project submitted to the Cultural Routes through Extremadura programme, financed by the Regional Government of Extremadura, allows us to visit, on this occasion, the archaeological site of Cáparra, the high performance sports centre "El Anillo", the Monfragüe National Park and the town of Trujillo.
  • After a period:

    After a period of troublesome building work, and the transfer of the Bachillerato groups to the building of the Santa Ana Cultural Centre building, we have a remodelled and "rejuvenated" centre.
  • "LAS CANDELAS ":

    Celebration of Las Candelas, a local festival declared a Festival of Tourist Interest in Extremadura.
  • Covid-19:

    Covid-19:
    The 2nd Baccalaureate students visit Berlin on their end-of-studies trip. After the departure of their flight back to Spain, the German airports are closed. An attempt is made to stop the spread of a disease that is to become a pandemic: Covid-19.
  • Virtual Graduation:

    For the first time a Virtual Graduation is held. The students who finished their course could not do it any other way after three months of confinement and online classes.
  • Different day of centre:

    Safety distance, mask and stay inside the classrooms. A different kind of Centre Day celebration with a difference.
