    This case is about having the ability to utilize all related services that the special education department should and will offer to a qualifying disabled student. Tatro was denied a related service because school officials thought it was a medical service. The court ruled in the favour of Tatro.

    Hudson Central School District v Rowley

    Amy Rowley was a deaf student and her parents wanted her to receive another service instead of the service that was stated in the IEP. The school district denied the request the Rowley's request, so Amy's mother to this matter to the district and later taking the case to the Supreme Court. The court ruled in favor of Amy Rowley, stating the school district limited the chances of Amy's to really succeed within the classroom by denying her access to that particular service.

    This case was about 2 students identified as emotionally disabled and that their disability triggered all the disruptions in the classroom. However the disruptions caused both students to be suspended from school which is a direct violation of EAHCA. This case leads us to Manifestation Determination.

    The historical ruling of Irving ISD v Tatro eluded to the added act of Other Health Impairments which still makes the special needs child inclusive to their appropriate education. This case was not just a huge victory for the student involved, it was huge victory for the students with other health impairments in the future, so that they can enjoy their quality of life.

    Manifestation Determination

    Manifestation determination is conducted when considering the explosion of a student with a disability that constitutes a change of placement. This law was to put into place to prevent school district from suspending students with disabilities. Students are now able to stay within their school placement and not be suspended because of their behavior or emotional disorder, which still entitles them to an appropriate education.

    The historical ruling of Hudson Central School District v Rowley was a stepping stones to allow school districts to really focus on the needs of the students with disabilities and how they need more concern on the accommodations of these students.
