This suggest that there will be no reciting of a school prayer at the beginning of each school day. This was when there was an increase in separation of State and Church. Even today there is no prayers in schools.

Since he had such an impact on society and helping push the Civil Rights Act among other things; on the third Monday of January schools, federal offices, post office and banks across America celebrate the Martin Luther King day which is now a National holiday. The first MLK day was celebrated on January 20th 1986.

    The case of Wallace v. Jaffree
    The case of Wallace v. Jaffree; the U. S. Supreme Court finds that Alabama’s authorizing of silent led prayer and teacher led voluntary prayer in public schools violates the First Amendment Rights. There should be a separation between church and state. The Supreme Courts held that having silent prayers in public schools was unconstitutional.

    Sandy Hook Elementary School Shooting
    Adam Lanza, killed 20 children and 6 adults. Since this shooting occurred there have been an increasing demand for safety at the schools which includes better building, arming teachers and adding police officers. Since this incident occurred there has been an increase of gun related incidents in schools. There continues to be a big debate of allowing students to carry guns on campuses and better screening of gun buyers.
