    Boston Latin School was the first school that was created and ran. This was first a boys only school and no girls were still allowed to learn. The things they learned was Latin and Greek and reading and math material. Some famous people went there to like John Hancock, Samuel Adams.     "Kill the Indian in him, and save the man" was the saying they used to treat Indians. Boarding schools separated the children from their parents and treated them horribly. They made them learn in the American style and cut their hair. They made them forget their traditions and not act like someone who did not have manners.

    This was a Supreme Court case which was Plessy v. Ferguson and a constitutional law. It was a decision of racial segregation between blacks and whites. Everyone would have schools and library and other stuff that they needed but they would only be segregated from color of skin.

But many places in the south would have a school but they would not have the materials like in white schools. Many kids would walk far just to go to a local school while whites had busses.

    This was a program that helped kids with low-cost or free lunch if they were qualified. President Truman signed the act with the effort to improve the boys health who were going to enter into WWll. The program serves 31.6 million children each day at cost.
