    **Webster was the spearhead of the removal of British textbooks form American Schools. He created the Blue Back Speller a text book focused on American national ideals and our history. It also created American English and the break away from traditional British English.
    It is thanks to Webster we have our current dictionaries and that America has set itself apart from British schools and education. He was one of the founding fathers of how and what American teaching within our schools.

    In the Northwest Ordinance of 1785 Areas of land were divided and distributed. One section in each township was to be set aside for a school. This started the idea of public lands and also created access to schools no matter your location.

    Horace Mann was the start to education reform in American. He traveled far and wide seeing how all towns schools were running their schools. He gathered information both good and bad. It was thanks to this the Common School movement began to help create a system for public education

    **This lawsuit was on behalf of a Black five-year-old who was barred from school. After being taken to the Massachusetts Supreme Court the result came back that Boston's schools would remain segregated. This didn’t stop them in 1955 The first law was passed among the nation outlawing segregation within schools. This started the ball to roll for schools across the nation to be desegregated.
    This case is the reason things such as Brown Vs. TBOE could happen and the integration of our schools.

    John Dewy vastly changed the approaches we use in both teaching and learning. AS a Philosopher he saw the way we were currently teaching wasn't ideal for students learning and thus created the Gary Plan and what we term Progressive Education

    **It was this case that the Supreme Court declared state laws establishing separate public schools for black and white students to be unconstitutional. Stating "separate educational facilities are inherently unequal." This took away a states right make their own call on segregation.
    This case finally made the entire nation stop segregation. To me it's moments like this I think that lead to individuals like Obama receiving a proper education and becoming our President and reach their dreams.

    **The Civil Rights Act ensured that all Americans could exercise their right to vote. This was a way to equalize all colors within our nation this dramatically increased the pace our nation desegregated. This moment in history is huge and made it so not only could all individual get a proper education, but that they wanted one! All individual were finally being treated as equals and they needed to be properly educated to make the right call at the polls each year. This created real equality.

    The effects of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act or IDEA helped those with disabilities have the right to a free and public education that fit their needs. Previous to this public schools did not have to cater to their needs causing education to be expensive. Now they and their have equal right as all other children.

    It is ideal to be able to put your children in a place that will best suite their needs and help them reach the best education possible. This opened up options which is important
