    Native American children being forced into American schools was a negative moment in the education system. Indians were not allowed to speak in their native language, forced to have a shaved head and many other things to try and blend them with the existing community while also erasing their culture and heritage.

    PIERCE V. SOCIETY OF SISTERS
    While being a religous society, they were extremely supportive of orphans and the freedom to choose the education path. This case was important to the growth of Americans education system because with a ruling of 9 to 0, the country was given the opportunity to choose which schools to attend.

    Desegreation in America's school system was long over due, and not definite with Little Rock Nine's work, but had made and incredible progress. After being physically blocked from the school, this nation was forced to look at their current practices and make changes to offer safe and quality education, regardless of skin color.

    NATIONAL DEFENSE EDUCATION ACT
    The NDEA helped America's education in the Science and Math fields, due to fear of being behind in technology behind the Soviet Union. This moment helped propel the curriculum and knowledge in those fields and also funded over 45 research projects around the country with the first year. It helped draw attention for the need of students taking up science and math.

    The start of protecting and educating individuals with disabilities started in the late 60s/early 70s and found a more permanent plan in 1990. These plans have given a quality of life to individuals that would have otherwise been left off to the side or put into an insane asylum due to lack of education or effort given by others. Specialized programs give the students a chance to advance.
