  • FREEDOM RIDERS

    The freedom riders started off as a small group of civil rights activists who sought out to end segragation in buses, as they believed that it was unconstitutional. This group began in 1961 because they wanted to test the Supreme Court's decision of 1960 to segragate all interstate trasportation facillities which was also belived to be unconstitusional. By the fall of 1961 the Interstate Commerce Comission issued some regulations that would prohibit segregation in interstate transit terminals.
