    Reforms in Government

The National Assembly needed to make reforms in their current government so that they can get to an ideal government. They made reforms like waving debts that the Third Estate owed and taking privileges from the First and Second Estates. They passed laws that were hoping to correct abuses and help set up the new form of government. For example they changed France's political layout by splitting the country into 83 equal districts. This made a need for the election of officials.
  • Meeting of the Estates Genral

    Meeting of the Estates Genral
The meeting of the Estates General was recognizing that there is a problem in the French government. The Estate General hadn't met in over 150 years and this would help the Third Estate get some type of say because every Estate is represented equally. This is the first time the poor's opinion is being fought for by someone with the power to make decisions.
  • Storming of the Bastille

    Storming of the Bastille
The people of Paris feared that the King would try and take away the National Assembly and force them away from Paris and Versailles. Woman's March
The Woman's March was a mob of women Parisian rushing to Versailles. They, like many, were angry with the king with the food problem in the Third Estate. There was limited food and money to pay for it in the Third Estate and the women wanted to change something, they wanted to have some power over the king. This power over the king was forcing him and his family to move out of Versailles and into Paris France. This took power away from the king because he was being imprisoned in his own country.
  • The Constitution of 1791

    The Constitution of 1791
The National Assembly came up with a constitution for their new government. This document gave less power to the king and divided the government into the three branches of Executive, Legislative, and Judicial. The king was losing his previous powers like making laws, electing members, ect. Though king Louis agreed to this constitution he planned to attack this new government. This will give people a even larger reason to rebel, because their king is planning to run and attack them.
  • War on Austria

    War on Austria
France declared war on Austria in April of 1792 because the Legislative Assembly could protect their country, united and in agreement. Foreign rulers were planning to invade France to get the king his power back, but the Legislative Assembly wanted to increase the country's influence on Europe. France was hoping that Allies of Austria wouldn't help so they would have a good chance, but Prussia and Sardinia did.
  • The End of the King

    The End of the King
On August 10th, 1792 the king lost all of his power because the Legislative Assembly suspended the office of the king. Then armed revolutionaries stormed the royal family's home, killing many guards and putting the king and his family in prison. This left room for a new government where the Legislative Assembly set for the election of new delegates to run the country by the new form of government which they would make in the constitution.
