  • Bad Weather

    In the 1780's weather got very bad so crops were harder to harvest, and the price of bread doubled.

    After a long time of King Louis XVI held a meeting to have more taxes since France was in a very big debt
  • National Assembly

    They voted to have the National Assembly, recomended by Emmanuel-Joseph Sieyès, which leads to the end of absolute monarchy, and the beginning of a representative government.

    In the night of August 4, 1789, noblemen made speeches speaking of how they support liberty and equality because they were motivated by fear. In the morning of Agust 5, 1789, the Old Regime was dead.

    Raise in Bread Price

    In October 1789 a lot of women were very mad because the price of bread rose, so they marched to get bread.
  • A New Government

    The National Assembly changed the government from an absolute monarchy to a constitutional monarchy.
  • War is Declared

    In April 1792 The Legislative Assembly declared war.
  • King Louis Dies

    King Louis was executed in the guillotine

    The Reign of Terror

    Maximilien Robespierre rose to power and decided to change everything about France so that it was completely different. He changed the calendar and removed Sundays from the weeks. He then became the leader of the Comittee of Poblic Safety and became a dictator.
  • End of War

    In July 1794 some members of the National Convention turned on Maximilien Robespierre, and arrested and executed him. The Reign of Terror ended when Robespierre was killed in the guillotine.
