    Meeting of the Estates General
    Representatives from each estate gathered to solve the political crisis that was happening in France at the time. In this meeting the peasents got the chance to talk to the king and be heard by him about their inequality. It took place at Versailles.

    The Tennis Court Oath
    The voting to establish the National Assembly leads to the creating of the Tennis Court Oath. The Third Estate met at a tennis court after being left out of their meeting room, they solemmly promise not to break out until a constitution was adopted.
  • Storming of the Bastille

    Storming of the Bastille
    A group of craftsmen and salesmen were desperate and wanted to defend themselves. They stole weapons from the Invadiles, but they had no luck finding any powder. Knowing that the king kept a pile of powder in the Bastille, a prision, they decided to attack it.

    Nobleman gave speeches of their liberty and equality and they joined other National Assembly members and together ended feudalisim and the division between estates.

     Declaration of Rights of a Man and of a Citizen
    National Assembly adopted the Declaration of Rights of a Man and of a Citizen. It was used as a constitution before they wrote the actual constitution. This declaration consists of the rights that all men should have.

    France was in a great dept, and for this the king had to raise the bread prices. The people in France were not happy with this and brok out by stealing bread and even killing bakers.

    Royal Family Attempts to Flee France
    As the heat continued to rise, King Louis and Marie Antoniette decided to escape France. The thought that in Austria with Marie's brother they would be safer. They failed as the citizens recognized them and called their arrest. The family had to go back to Paris as prisioners.

    Invasion of the Tuileries
    20,000 men and women invaded and attaked the Tulieries where Louis and his family was staying. They imprisioned the whole Royal Family.
  • National Convention took office

    National Convention took office
    After an election a new governing body called the National Convention took office. The National Convention was meant to provide a new constitution for France after they got rid of monarchy.
  • Louis XVI sentenced to death

    Louis XVI sentenced to death
    The National Convention guided by the Jacobins trialed Louis for treason. They found him guilty and sentenced him to death. And on January, 21 1793 he was beheaded by a machine called the guillotine along with his wife Marie Antoniette.
