    My Life

  • Moving to Brewster

When I was 2 years old, I left my home in the Bronx and set sail for Brewster. I arrived at my new home, and immediately fell in love. The yard was nearly 5 times the size as what I was used to in Yonkers, AND it had a pool. Seeing real neighbors in every direction instead of apartment halls fired me up with excitement, and within a week my sister and I had found every other kid close to our age on our street. I knew that this new house would be my home for years to come; 14 years and counting.
  • Learning to Swim

My pool is just over 5 feet deep, and ever since I was young I have been terrified of drowning. My first time swimming without floaties was simple, my dad pushed me right in. In panic, I flailed my arms and legs until I reached the wall. After my pool won round 1 of this battle, I went back for more… except this time, I jumped in myself. Before I knew it, that same day I was swimming all around the pool. I became a pretty good swimmer early, although to this day I am still terrified of drowning.
  • Learning to Ride a Bike

I was an outdoors kid, and riding my bike became a go-to, but there was just one problem...training wheels. I would beg each and every day for them to be taken off, but my mom never thought I was ready. I began sitting on the handlebars, standing on the seat and riding with no hands and finally, my mom had seen enough. Before she could even finish unscrewing the training wheels off, I hopped right on the seat and got rolling. It was as simple as that, instantly up to par with Lance Armstrong.
  • Breaking my Arm

Climbing trees was one of my favorite things to do growing up. I'd climb any tree, but the large tree in my front yard was my favorite. I thought I knew each branch, and that I was an expert at climbing trees. Until one day, I reached farther than I should have and slipped out of the tree, and my arm snapped right below me. Once I saw it, I began to scream. I didn't know what to think, I was freaking out. If it wasn't for my mom, I would have screamed my whole way to the ER.
  • My First Rollercoaster Ride

"I don't want to", I said to my dad as he dragged me on line for Comet, at Hershey Park. We waited just over an hour for a ride that I did NOT want to go on. Within minutes we're next in line; I take a seat next to him and hope for the best. The ride was short, and turned out to be pretty fun. Within seconds of stepping foot off of the ride, I feel my stomach turn over. Before I could even look for a garbage can, I threw up in front of everyone. I felt much better and continued riding all day.
  • My 8th Birthday Party

I've always made my birthday a big deal. For my 8th birthday my parents told me everybody was busy and that I'll have to wait until next year to celebrate. My dad took me to see the Incredible Hulk to cheer me up. As I made my way into the theater, I felt like something as was up. Once I opened the door, "SURPRISE!" the whole theater was filled with my friends. I had a lot of fun and ate more candy than I can remember, and the Hulk remains as one of my favorite Marvel characters.
  • When my Dog Passed Away

My first dog Tara was the friendliest golden retriever you would ever meet. She'd always listen to commands, never bite, play games; the ideal dog. She was part of the family my whole life. Her legs slowly began to give out, and she stopped eating as much as she used to. I'd try and play with her and she would just lay down. I was old enough to understand her time was coming, but I didn't want to accept that. She was put down right around Christmas, making the holiday hard to enjoy.
  • My First Football Game

I began playing football in 7th grade. Allow me to be the first to say, I sucked. I barely knew a thing about football, but almost all my friends played so I figured I’d give it a shot. When it came time for my first game, I was super nervous. When I heard my name called, I was in shock that I was on the field. I played much more than I expected, and even surprised myself with what I was able to against another team. I discovered my passion for football that day, and I'm glad I stuck with it.
  • Losing to Somers

My first year playing varsity football, Brewster went undefeated in the regular season. Although I was injured for majority of the season, being a part of this team meant something to me. Playoffs came around, and we were matched up with somers in the Semis, a great opponent. It was a hard fought battle until the very end, although we came up short. Being used to winning all season, just to lose in the end, it made me want to win even more in the future. It was a learning experience.
  • Buying my first car

I've looked forward to getting my first car my whole life. When I got my license, I had enough. I needed a car, so I looked for months online trying to find the right one. Summer came along and I decided there was no way I could go through the entire summer without a car, so I bought a $300, 2004 Pontiac Grand Am from a good friend of mine. This tank of a car is still running and has been through hell and back with me. She's slowly falling apart, but bigger & better things are soon to come.
