Battle of Princeton
The Battle of Princeton was one of the many American Revolution battles. This particular battle was fought in Princeton, New Jersey. General George Washington of the Continental Army decided to enter Princeton from a back road. This strategy helped him win the battle against the British army and also helped boost the morale of the his own troops. -
The American Flag
The Second Continental Congress passed this design of the flag on June 6, 1777. This established the first congressional standard of the flag. There is much debate on who made the first flag however Betsy Ross sewed the flag thus her name is most recognized when it comes to who made the first flag. -
The Articles of Confederation
The Articles of Confederation were adopted by the Continental Congress. It was an agreement between the 13 original states that established the functions of the national government. The Articles of Confederations was ratified in 1781 and then replaced in 1789 when the Constitution was put into effect. -
The French Alliance
The American colonies faced the challenge of seeking international support during the American Revolution. They eventually were able to gain the support they were looking for from the French. The Representatives of the French and American governments signed the Treaty of Alliances and the Treaty of Amity and Commerce. -
Battle of Yorktown
The battle took place in Yorktown Virginia from September 28th of 1781 through October 19, 1781. The Americans had a fighting force of approximately 8,800 who was supported by 7,800 french soldiers against a British force of about 6000. The french and Americans were bombarding. A British Officer waving a white flag informed the Americans and French that they want to surrender. On October 19, 1781 articles of capitulation were signed which proved that British admitted their defeat. -
Treaty of Paris
The Treaty of Paris was an agreement between the British and the United States of America to end the Revolutionary War. The treated was signed in Paris and under the terms of the treaty Britain had to recognize America as its own independent country.
