  • Rosa Parks

    1. Rosa Parks was arrested for refusing to give up her seat to a white man on a bus. 2. She was arrested and tried for refusing to give up her seat, This spawned the Montgomery bus boycott to begin.

    1. Medgar Evers was an African American civil rights leader. 2. After he was killed on his driveway a funeral was held in Jackson. President John F. Kennedy and many other leaders publicly condemned the killing. He was put on trial and the all white jury failed to find a verdict as did the second. Two years later They reopened the case with a mixed jury and Bryon was found guilty.

    In Marion, Alabama, Jimmie Lee Jackson was peacefully protesting for voting rights when he was beaten and shot by state troopers. Sent to the hospital he died 8 days later.

    In Varnado, Louisiana black deputy Oneal Moore was shot and killed when he and his partner were on patrol. A pickup truck pulled along side the patrol car when the trunk of the truck opened fire killing Oneal Moore and wounding his partner.

MLK jr.'s death had such a big impact on whites and African Americans because of his causes that he fought for, the type of person that he was, his motivational speeches, and the way in which he handled things. He was so important to people that his death caused riots in many major cities.
