    Plessy v. Ferguson
    Plessy v. Ferguson was the court case which made segregation constitutional as long as they were equal "Separate, but equal." This caused much contreversy mainly in the south and caused many civil rights movements 60 years later. This was in effect until it was overturned in 1954.

    Brown v. Board of Education
    This US Supreme Court case is the court case in which the decisions from Plessy V.Ferguson were overturned, It was reviewed that black and white schools were allegedly only "substantially" unequal. This gave people more eduational freedom to choose where they wanted to go to school.

    Rosa Parks and the Montgomery Bus Boycott
    Rosa parks was a black lady who sat in a white persons seat. this attracted the white people's attention and they asked her to move, she refuse and got arrested. Due to this event she started a boycott which caused the bus companies to lose money. This was considered the first boycott in this revolution.

The SCLC catch the attention of the peoples and with the contribution of mainly African Americansthe organization helped with the civil rights.

    Little Rock Nine
    In this event nine students who were African Americans enroll in Central High School. the school and the National Guard wouldnt let the students pass but the president help them get in with his power. Although it was hard for the students, the government show a little bit more support and was one of the effects of the movement.

  • Greensboro Sit-In

    Greensboro Sit-In
    Started with four young men who were inspired by the non-violent protests of the freedom riders. They were arressted, but their bravery encouraged others to participate in sit-ins throughout the surrounding areas. Eventually many businesses had to compromise and allow integrated seating since they were losing so much business.

    Freedom Riders
    The activist riding a bus were both black and white and were supporting the Civil Right movement in the South.This event almost killed a dozen of activist due to violence. This caught the attention of the people world-wide and caused a petition to be created that segregation in interstate travel.

  • March on Washington

    March on Washington
    This march was organized by a large number of different civil rights groups and organizations. Over 200,000 people participated as a form of non-violent protest. This is where MLK gave his famous "I have a dream" speech, and incited the passing of the civil rights act.

    He was shot allegedly byJames Earl Ray while standing on his balcony. in Tennessee MLK had been about to head to a dinner for a rally he had been organizing. It turns out that he wasn't very well liked since people thought he was a communist, and he had been under review for a while until he died.
