    Constantine

    Constantine was the first Byzantine Emperor. Was born 272 and died 337. Constantine improved financial , social , military reforms to strengthen the empire. Constantine fought and drafted Maxentius . After this event he introduced christianity like the main religion of the empire. Then he created the Edict Of Milan with Licinius which was that every religion was gonna be accepted in the empire. After this he had a fight with Licinius because Licinius broke the Edict of Milan .

    Theodosius I

    Theodosius campaign was against the Goths and other barbarians who had invaded the empire. Was born 347 died 395 .His resources where not that much to destroy them , after having a really difficult fight it was the end of the Gothic War. He dissolved the Order of Vestal Virgins . He banned pagan rituals at the olympics.

    Justinian I

    When Justinian came to the throne they were in war vs Persians. Justinian conquered lots of lost land of the western part. Was born 483 died 565. Justinian raised taxes to create lots of works. So people were not happy with Justinian so riots started . He was scared about the Nikka Riots but her wife Theodora convinced her not to leave and fight . So he cited them on Hipodrom a place were meetings were done and chariots race. In there he killed everyone of the Nikka Riots.

    Heraclius

    Heraclius was recognized for improving imperial administration and improving imperial armies . Was born 575 died 641 .When Heraclius got to power the empire was fighting the Sasanian war against the Persian army. Heraclius was able to win this war. Heraclius drove the way out of Asia Minor and pushed them into their territory. Deafiting them decisively in the battle of Nineveh. After a short period of time the Arabs conquered Mesopotamia , Armenia and Egypt.

    Irene

    Irene was the first female Byzantine empress. When Leo IV died Irene got to the throne. Irene restored images of Christ and saints . She helped women at the time showing women is capable of governing an empire. Was born 752 and died 803.

    Basil II

    Basil was also known as the Bulgar Slayer . Was born 957 died 1025. Basil extended the empire . He expanded the empire Empire stretched from southern Italy to the Caucasus and from the Danube to the Levant. He had a really strong fight against Bulgaria that lasted 50 years and he won. He ended the Anatolian Aristocrats . He fighter every fight with his army also known as the father of the army. He was viewed as a national hero.

    Zoe

    Zoe got to the throne when his husband Romanus III . Was born 978 died 1050. She became empress upon his elevation to the throne the same year . She was really jealous of her sister Theodora and ended exiling her to a monastery. Zoe was persuaded to adopt her dying husband's nephew named Michael. Once Michael V became emperor he exiled Zoe.

    Theodora Porphyrogenita is the sister of Zoe. Theodora was born 497 and died 548. She was exiled because Zoe was jeluse of her sho she was exiled to a monastery.
