  • The Battle of Lexington and Concord

    The commanding officers of the British were Colonel Smith, Major Pitcairn, Lord Percy, and Thomas Gage. The leaders of the Americans were Paul revere, and William Dawes. The significance of this battle was that the British soldiers were going to take all of the arms and munitions.
  • Fort Ticonderoga

    The American leaders were Ethan Allen and Colonel Benedict Arnold. The militia overcame a small British garrison and looted the personal belongings of the garrison.
  • The Battle of Breeds Hill

    The Militia was under the leadership of Colonel William Prescott. The British were under Major General Willaim Howe and Brigadier General Robert Pigot. The militiamen were holding out until they were in several yards of the end of the guns and once they were close they shot the British.
  • The Battle of Trenton/Princeton

    The militia General George Washington. He crossed the Delaware and won two major battles for the militia. He destroyed a garrison of Hessian mercenaries.
  • The Battle of Saratoga; Bemis heights

    British were led by General John Burgoyne. The militia was led by General Horatio Gates and General Benedict Arnold. The militia defeated the British when they tried to move through Lake Champlain, Lake George, and the Hudson River.
  • Siege of Charleston

    Militia leader was Major General Benjamin Lincoln. The British were going for a Southern Strategy, forcing a capitulation of the Americans.
  • King's Mountain

    The militia leader was James Johnston. The British leader was Patrick Ferguson. The Loyalists engaged the Patriots in battle because the Loyalists were still loyal to the crown.
  • Yorktown

    Militian leader was General George Washington. The leader of the British was Lord Wornwallis. French Leader was Comte de Rochambeau. The Americans fought woth the French and beat the British in the last battle of the Revolutionary war.
