    Israel declared independence. Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, and Iraq attacked Israel. Israel gained land. Egypt gained the Gaza Strip and Jordan gained the West Bank and East Jerusalem. Hundreds of thousands of Palestinians and Jews became refugees.

    Israel built settlements to act as security outposts. The settlements were built over Jewish villages. Israel's military became weak. Palestinians had a hard time traveling in the West Bank.

    Egypt blockaded Israel, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, and Iraq moved troops to Israel’s borders and made threatening statements. Israel launched a preemptive strike. Israel captured the West Bank and East Jerusalem from Jordan, the Golan Heights from Syria, and the Gaza Strip and all of the Sinai Peninsula from Egypt. More Palestinians and Jews became refugees. Terrorism became more common.

    Israel and the PLO signed a DOP. Israel withdrew military from the Gaza Strip. Both sides accused the other of not fulfilling the agreement in the DOP.

    U.S. helped Jordan and Israel achieve peace. The two countries began interacting more. Israel and Jordan didn't have as much tension and it improved both countries.

    An attempt to bring peace to Israel and Palestine. It was done in secret and both countries could not compromise. Conflict continued between Israel ad Palestine. Both countries were upset with the other needs and provoked the second Intifada.

    Israel withdrew from Gaza so the Palestinians could govern themselves. The Palestinians were angry because there was no negotiation. Rockets fired from Gaza to Israel increased.

    Hezbollah crossed the Lebanon-Israel border to attack Israel and use "human shield strategy". Many civilian neighborhoods were destroyed and Lebanon's transportation infrastructure was damaged.

    Hamas attacked the PLO. Mahmoud Abbas dissolved the Hamas government. Western sanctions were lifted. Hamas controlled Gaza and the Palestinian Authority controlled the West Bank.
